Ferrari had a clear number 1 driver from the moment Schumacher signed to the moment he left the team and they haven’t done that since then.
If Hamilton wants that kinda of treatment Ferrari will have to adopt that policy once more and hire him a less talented driver as a number 2
He doesn't want that. What he wants - as does every driver on the grid - is the team to give him a chance if he's faster than his team mate at that point. Every driver says on the radio to the team "I'm quicker than my team mate" when he knows he's being held up. That's universal.
Not every driver gives back the place if he's unable to push that pace advantage after being let through. Hamilton has. Max famously told the team to do one when they asked him to let Perez through, for example. And, no, Hamilton isn't perfect in this regard either. Charles is likely to find his attitude will bite him when he does need his team mate to move over for him. Goes around, comes around.
If you are more fortunate than others, build a larger table not a taller fence.
