Yes because shorter races is what we all want![]()

I get why, it's just annoying. I think we need to return to refuelling - I miss that element of the strategy and it would allow the cars to be smaller and lighter.

They gotta get smaller and lighter and simpler. Battery to 10-15%. I even argue to take some inches off the wheels—improve driver sight lines and reduce un-sprung weight.
Because races with refuelling were so good?
I watch INDYCAR too, the additional strategy element combined with short life tires makes for really good and interesting racing.WardenOfTheNorth wrote: ↑08 Sep 2026, 01:11Because races with refuelling were so good?
Oh no, wait, they weren't. There were naff all on track overtakes because they were all decided by strategy.
The cars do need to shrink a little bit more, but refuelling would make races worse.

PS, I've been watching F1 since 1985, Im not saying it's a magic bullet, but it will improve the racing and give teams an extra lever to pull to try and win races etc.
Splash and goes were a fun part of the strategies before, so I’d suggest artificial limits make sense and detract from the racing.
If the car needs 180 kg of fuel for a race and all the cars by regulations are to start with a 90kg of fuel then there is going to be many strategic options. Some that can be read while others are going to a surprise.
The lack of overtaking on track back when refueling was allowed had actually very little to do with refueling. The drivers would overtake on the track if it is possible. But back then, they had the same issue as they had now on the Madring. Because of the aerodynamics of the cars back then and the layout of some tracks, overtakes were near impossible to do, unless a massive delta between the cars existed.WardenOfTheNorth wrote: ↑08 Sep 2026, 01:11Because races with refuelling were so good?
