I am not sure the Leclerc crash was his fault.
If you look at the replay, he does not go as wide as some other cars, but his car still looses its rear.
I think the chances are very high it was a deployment problem. The engine unexpectedly deployed more than expected.

If you look at the previous few straights, he was surprisingly slow, just like when the engine again unexpectedly starts to do a lots of recharge instead of deploying power.
So this makes the case again stronger, that his engine was already in some weird mode. And that then it released too much power and too early in that corner.

Ferrari has a new engine, they had deployment and recharge problems with it during qualy too in Q2.
Probably they have new mappings and programmes, and it was unreliable.
And this is not the first case this happens to Ferrari or even other teams this year.
The software gets confused where the car is at the track and recharges where it should not and deploys where it shall not.
From the onboard it was obvious he touched the water drains a bit. His front left wheel was on a good chunk of the green so the rear of the car that is wider and slipping in Parabolica, makes the rear left to touch the water drain. Offcourse there is still no video on this, maybe the team has it or FIA from the rear facing camera but they didn't show it.

I wonder who he was thinking of...
Anyway they're not in a title fight. McLaren, even with a bigger gap, is more of threat.
Of course not now because Leclerc ruined too many of Hamilton's races and Leclerc's numerous crashes will prevent Ferrari from being able to spend any more money on upgrades.
Working on the balance.

Let's don't find excuses for this for Leclerc in this, it was his fault even though noone in his right mind would had done what Piastri did with that banzai move there.

Hamilton was going to finish P6 in any case, he was very slow today. Same for Zandvoort where he lost 3 points at best.

He was the fastest car on track at one point. his average pace to Max on the mediums was a tenth slower and thats on 25 lap older tires, yet max got a podium. Lewis lost out because of the turn 1 incident and way more so, them for some odd reason refusing to pit him under the vsc

Only because of overtake mode which provided a net 0.5s gain on lap time. Without it, he was extremely slow.
Also, only an amateur driver put himself on the outside of turn 2 in Monza in that situation. Same move that costed him the race with Max in 2021. You think that Leclerc, IN MONZA, is going to leave the space after a divebomb in turn 1? This is borderline experimental, not going to lie.

This is the result of a team managed by literal clowns.
If you want to bet on Hamilton just hire a pure second driver like Bottas or whatever. Leclerc should have been fired immediately. Leclerc Hamilton is the worst driver pair in the entire grid.
It’s an interesting point - you could argue that, if they were going to sign Hamilton, it would have made more sense to keep Sainz as his partner - still very fast and good but more likely to slot in behind on pure performance.

But my argument would be not to have signed Lewis at all - if they had got him 10 years earlier, great, but at this stage you needed to leave the team alone unless you could get Max. They now need to think about if they can get Kimi after he wins a couple of championships with Mercedes and built the team around him. No point getting these guys after they’ve peaked.
Lewis is a 7XWDC team builder that's what they hired him for and he is delivering. It's up to Charles to learn how a champion operates and apply that to take the team builing over from Lewis, but it seems he has other more short-sighted plans.

Delivering what? Ferrari is a worse position than 2022 and 2024 when Hamilton wasn't there. It's higly likely they will finish P3 in the WCC as well with McLaren looking more and more competitive compared to Ferrari.

Is there a list of things that have actually improved since Hamilton joined the team?

Well, he's a 7XWDC. If he is a team builder remains to be seen. I actually have my doubts.

The ineptitude if this team this weekend has seriously driven me to the point of madness. After the race I was so incensed by their poor showing and shafting of ham that it affected me personally. I started losing my temper and I took it out on my wife unfortunately, leading to a petty argument.

Seriously, you thought the 3 years I the wilderness at merc was difficult for ham, these last 2 years has been absolute madness

The problem is the fact that hes not even able to build. Back in the 00s todt had the spine to stand up to the ferrari hierarchy. Today its impossible

Absolutely zero, actually. The only good thing this year has been development but McLaren did even better and they still have a big upgrade for Baku so, yeah.

Ever imagine how it feels fighting for the World Championship having two number two drivers? Hopeless…
Ferrari don't have two number 1 drivers. They have a 7x WDC in 1 car and a pretender in the other who crashes too much. They can't sack him because of sentiment. Being quick on a qualy lap does not make a WDC and Leclerc's deficiencies both in his ability to lead the team and to simply bring the car back with the wheels attached are being laid bare this year. Leclerc's story has been romanticized to the heavens and that's why guys here like deadhead keep memory holing Leclerc's error rate and trying to claim he's a consistent driver while making digs at Hamilton and other WDCs every other day (he likes to claim anybody can be WDC and Leclerc "just doesn't have the car"). Hamilton is old enough to be Antonelli's uncle and leads "prime Leclerc" in the points and has simply been the better driver. That is what Leclerc's career is worth today. It's harsh, but it's true. People need a reality check about Charles Leclerc and winning a random British GP or a random GP in the 2nd half doesn't invalidate this.
Only fools are questioning Charles abilities. And try putting down Charles is not reflecting well on Lewis, nobody forgot what happened last year, and the gap between them is small this year when you know how the new regulations are restricting Leclerc and Verstappen’s driving style.

If you are the faster driver you are ahead in qualifying and you are faster over a race distance. There is no need to ask for the team to help you.

Just a year after Hamilton left Mercedes, the team suddenly started winning races. Who is responsible for this? Is Antonelli an even better ‘team builder’ than Hamilton?
