After the Sainz incident, only chance was a safety car to regroup the whole field. Then again downforce loss due to contact and near impossibility to overtake due to engine deficit means even if it happened it wouldn't have mattered much. But no luck anyways. Weekend to forget (as will be what remains of this year with few exceptions)
agreed.

Cronin said there was already damage from contact with Stroll. Sainz just made it worse.

Sainz hit Alonso's wing twice. Once on the very first lap and again later.

Stroll just hit the floor with his front tire on the first lap.

Alonso did 23 laps on the soft with a damaged floor. They didn't stop cause the tires were worn out just they were not gonna catch anyone. So I'm not sure why you don't think that Alonso couldn't have done 40 or more laps on the soft had he not had any damage and there was a safety car or red flag.

Aston Martin explores Red Bull engine option as FIA moves to support Honda for 2027
In particular, following the Italian Grand Prix at Monza, Lawrence Stroll held detailed contacts with Red Bull to discuss the possibility of Aston Martin using the power unit developed in Milton Keynes.

Discussions have therefore taken place, although at this stage Red Bull does not appear inclined to supply another team beyond Racing Bulls.

good story, thx.

I think that tells you how happy AMR is with the new Honda ICE.

They should first allow Honda to change the fuel supplier. Stroll and FIA president should be talking to ExxonMobil, if anything. Let Honda use their old fuel partner. The ExxonMobil fuel likely has the best combustion energy. Should eliminate Aramco fuel as the unknown quantity in the engine performance deficit.

I rewatched all the replays of the start. Sainz never made contact with Alonso, but he did brake way too late and drove into the side of the Racing Bull into turn 1.

Bottas inadvertently touched the back of Alonso's car into turn 1 with the Sainz incident in front.

Stroll weaved into the side of Alonso off turn 3, but the real damage with Stroll came off of turn 6. Stroll was aggressive by passing on the outside into turns 5 and 6 and Alonso understeered into him. A lot of parts came off Alonso's car as seen from Bottas' inboard camera.

Sainz turning into Alonso later caused more damage to the front end. The front wing was sparking into some corners, and it is fortunate the whole front wing did not let go in a high speed corner.

I hate this track and am glad it is over. A driver is going to get seriously hurt some day with the current layout.

This year is obviously going to be a joke. Embarrassing, so to speak.

Now, honest question: is there any technical reason to think about a competitive 2027? And, as much as I trusted Honda, I have a lot of doubts. Are they objectively able to make a decent engine for 2027?

Fernando saying if he’s going to renew it’s not just going to be for a year. For a few years minimum

I love that word, "minimum."

Do you have any new inside information on how development of the 2027 engine is going?

Realistically, Aramco would never allow a switch to a competitor's fuel when they are the title sponsor.

I suspect that's why they're not announcing Alonso's contract. To force teams to Help Honda catch up or replace them. The FIA doesn't want to lose Honda as a manufacturer. So Alonso and Stroll are using that to pressure the FIA to make more allowances to help Honda catch up. In other words they don't think Honda can catch up without more help. More help than they are already getting from ADUO.

I suspect AMR does and it's not going well. If it was, they wouldn't be reacting like they are.

To be honest I don't think Amarco cares. As long as they put a sticker on it that it Amarco's fuel. The problem is that now you have to start over the fuel from scratch with a new provider or Honda does make there own fuel.
