That is 190 million for 5 years while Toyota has budget of 400 million per season. That means 2 billion for 5 years and therefore 190 million pinched from that sum isn't too much (if Kimi is really worth it). Just check Renault's budget...
Yeah, but $400 million is for EVERYTHING! Ferrari's $38 million/year for Kimi is just for ONE driver! That is 10% of Toyota's annual budget.
I'm not saying that Toyota is not overspending. But such comments should come from teams like Renault and McLaren, and not Ferrari. Besides, above teams have an ample experience in F1. Toyota is still in its infant stage and they have a lot of catching up to do.
im actually suprise by the 190million for kimi. It has been a known fact that ferrari is actually been asked by fiat to use less money. Maybe this sum is partly paid by malboro(like shumies salary )
As much as I've heard this is the last season for tobacco companies in F1. It has been mentioned that Telefonica will became general sponsor of Renault F1 team instead of Mild Seven.
like it or not...champions are crowned in many ways then one...but you need luck...frenando has had tat this whole season..he seems to benifit from all of kimi's retierment..kimi may have been a more blistering driver this season..with his ruthless pace in races..and mclaren may be the quickest car..and i may be a huge kimi fan...but in the end..frenando was luckier then kimi..both of them are the class driver at the moment..both has all it takes to be champion..kimi may be quicker...but its frenando's turn this time around..so congrats and a good one to Fernando Alonso...F1 Champion 2005.
true.. i think kimi and alonso was the stand out of the season. but in the last race i feel that montoya out performed kimi. i would like to see more of the kimi/montoya fight next year. i think it will be difficult for renault next year. but who knows.. alonso may be champion again. renault need to put more pressure on fisi! he is --- up..
That's why I believe F1 is more of a constructor's race these days. I bet if you put anybody in a McLaren (even Narain) he is sure to pull off a few wins, at least more than Ferrari and certainly more than the midfielders.

I agree, remember Mika Salo's performance during his first race for Ferrari?
He outpaced all of them and than team orders forced him to drop to second place...
lol oh common...Keke Rosberg became champ with only ONE win in 1982...to win the chamionship not only takes Speed, but Reliability aswell. Example: Mansell could have won many more chamionships than he did...but he didn't because often he pushed the car too hard...therefore he wasn't a good enuff driver to stay calm and think of the championship.
I am NOT saying Kimi isnt as good as Fernando becuase his car broke down...obviously Kimi cannt help that...what I am saying is that if a Driver fails to finish races he cannot be more worthy of winning the championship than one who does...and conversly one who does finish all his races isnt nessecarily better than the one who doesn't.
But it is unfair to critisise Fernando because he took advantage of Mclaren's unreliability...that is what you do to win in all sports, find your opponents weak spots, and capitalise on it. It is simly rediculous to act like Feranando does not deserve this title.
However this is not to say Kimi doesnt deserve it. Had his car been more reliable then sure, Kimi would be champ...but one cannot critises Fernando for doing his best and winning.

How many times did Schumi overtake ANYBODY in 2004....not many....becuase its hard to overtake when you're already in the lead. Same with Fernando...how can he overtake Kimi often when more often than not Kimi is starting from behind him because of a 10place grid penalty. (btw i also agree that tht is a stupid rule and wasn't really fair....especially for kimi...that said they all play by the same rules). To be champ you dont need to overtake....cos tht will just get you a win and possibly a retirement if you cock it up...one must think of the championship...Fernando let Montoya pass relatively easily in Brazil...not because he cannot defend his position (he proved he could do so at Imola) but because he was thinking of the championship...that sort of mentality will win you championships...not a selfish glory hunt. Also Fernando proves he is good enough to deserve this championship with the sort of performances he put in this season, eg: Australia (Grid13th - Race3rd), malaysia & barhain (pole to flag domination), Imola & France.
Also if we're talking about Fernando benifiting from Kimi's mistakes....lets not Forget Kimi only won Canada when Fisi retired from the lead...it happens both ways for everybody.
