That's a big update for this late in the season, I wonder if this hints to something they have been working on for next years car, and they discovered they could easily fit it to this years car or whether this has been planned for a while.

During FP1Lando had the Madrid wing, with classic opening system. During FP2 they installed H wing on both cars.



Rob Marshall said the new package is behaving as their simulations predicted, which is a positive start, but they haven't unlocked its full potential yet.

They can carry over most components to next year, so it makes sense to develop it for as long as possible.

Apparently McL is going to develop a new chassis with longer wheelbase for next year, so I doubt there will be much carry-over. Maybe they just want to compete.
