217kmh measured for sector one. Did he get a tow into sector one too?
4kmh quicker than previous best and 0.2 faster than his previous best there.
Sector 2 was 0.2 quicker than his previous fastest lap.
And sector 3 was 4kmh quicker than he did on previous best time and 0.150 faster.

George admitted he probably gained a couple tenths thanks to Hadjar in that final sector and that translates in higher top speed (314kmh vs 310kmh)
Will be interesting to see his lap as seems to suggest he got a double helping of tow at the start and the end of the lap along with a stellar middle sector.

he was running in sync with Hadjar a couple of seconds ahead throughout his final two hot laps. There was no tow on top of it, as far as I can see, just a normal, well timed run.

I don't doubt that, but Hadjar was 4-5s ahead. So pretty much similar to most others.

If people don’t figure out how Mercedes are so efficient, they won’t be able to beat them next year either. Ferrari kind of proved this season that you cannot beat a power deficit with downforce in this formula.

Oh boy, this is precisely why I've been eagerly waiting for their upgrade to arrive, will finally - bar a correlation disaster - put this annoying "best chassis/compensating for X amount of power deficit with Y amount of downforce advantage" debate to bed at last...

The Ferrari chassis is highly overrated, it's draggier than Mercedes' and has been inferior in traction zones all season (sources of energy bleed)... That is not to say that all of their deficit is on the chassis front, but the margins gained from ADUO upgrades (from all manufacturers) vs how much any team can and have been gaining with even just a single comprehensive aero upgrade package gives you a pretty good idea where the real margins have been in this regulation set so far...

It's interesting that Mercedes have a different 8th gear to the customer teams that they supply the gearbox to(Alpine and Williams). Is it possible that this is just a data anomaly?

The figure shows the speed in 8th gear at 10500 RPM for all teams. So it shows the 8th gear ratio. Higher speed = lower gear ratio. Lower speed = higher gear ratio.

Makes sense as they had the reliability issues early then introduced more robust specs since then.
