ISLAMATRON:
know we've gone from speculation about technical level to speculation on arrogance level, when will it end?

Yea, we fall permanently deeper or what do you mean by this rob:
rob:
Even Schumacher warmed up (comparatively) in interviews over the years and he started from one of the worst positions possible in terms of perceived arrogance. He was German.
Can you enlighten me on this?

He was a cold, matter-of-fact interviewee for many years - to the point of boring military precision. Mechanical, soulless and, well,... hardly endearing to most.

It seems to be a common trait when many German people speak English - which is why it's a pretty universally known stereotype for super-seriousness (why when people want to sound like a wanker or imply Nazis/racism etc do they often pretend to with a stereotypical strong German accent? - because it is referential and also an apt yet light-hearted cue of true meaning). This comes across as a sign of arrogance and is partly synonymous in most English speaking cultures. It usually isn't actually arrogance, but is easily mistaken for it and Schumy seldom did himself favours in the lightening up area until many years into his career.

Simply, people tend to like people who, amongst serious business, are still people they can relate to. Delivery is a massive part of this.

you could paint me paypaya orange and pay me £50k pa, i would at least put out readable press releases.

Wouldn't normally be so pedantic but I really think their PR girl should learn the difference between "your" and "you are". What was she employed for? Tea making?

(For americans, the use of the female gender was ironic not chauvinistic. Please don't sue me just because your sister's cousin's former flatmate is an ambulance chaser.)
For a post concerning spelling and grammar, one should proofread his own work carefully.

Luckily, even in America, one cannot be sued for capitalization and spelling errors or poor sentence structure.

I doubt his technical level is that much more than most drivers. Drivers like Schumacher and Alonso's reputed technical ability has been reported at great length but I have never heard or read anyone say the same about Hamilton.

And regarding the spelling thing. Considering that not everyone here has English as their first language or some of us are dyslexic or may have learning difficulties it is insulting!

Atrocious spelling in this day of spell checkers available in every browser and most OS's is bordering on ignorant though. If some grammar is off because of English being a second language, that is obvious and excusable.

Bad spelling is simply lazy 99% of the time.

Spell checkers in every browser? Not in IE 8 that I have found, unless you expect someone to write a comment in word and then copy and paste it into their web browser. Bad spelling is NOT 99% laziness (there are several teachers in my family and I can tell you that is rubbish). I mean why write a comment like that? Trolling? And not that it's any business of yours, I happen to be dyslexic. Feel better know? Respect lost.

Gridwalker - thanks, I'll download and use.

Apologies for the outburst but ignorant comments like that just really annoy me like mad. Not as if anyone is on here incorrectly spelling words deliberately.

You should relax a bit Andrew. I am merely commenting on the majority of bad spellers online, where spell checkers are abundant. A lot of people who are dyslexic use spell checkers for that simple reason, there is no reason to get worked up.

Sure I pulled that 99% stat out of my ass, but I can just about guarantee that 100% of people on the internet CAN get a spell check enabled browser or OS. Mac OS has a built in spell checker that works everywhere.

This was not personally directed at you, but at bad spelling and laziness, no reason to let it effect you personally or emotionally. I never said anyone spells deliberately, but ignoring spelling errors to me, is lazy. I say this because a cursory Google glance shows me lots of IE8 options.

You should have advised of the where-abouts of spell cheackers for IE etc like Gridwalker did rather than write a comment that is bound to annoy.

Not having my dyslexia picked up until I was 18 and starting at univeristy, comments like that are not unknown to me. No matter how used to it I am, comments like that always disappoint and anger me.

All the same, the explanation is appreciated. Cheers.

Well that wasn't my goal, so it's also not problem. It's not my responsibility to advise what spell checker others need to use for their systems. I can not be expected to hold your hand, considering I was told that you use IE8 after my comment, and since Gridwalker already gave you an option by I can only guess Googling "IE8 Spell Checker".

Myself, thinking that someone is lazy because they can't Google is a reasonable assumption, albeit a possibly wrong one.

Sorry that you took my comment personally, it was never pointed at or near you.

Peace.

Actually Andrew, it might be a good thing nobody at school noticed your dyslexia - they noted my brothers at 5 years old, clamped onto him as 'client population' - warehoused him in Special Education - then punted him to the curb at 16 with a grade 6 education. You might have been one of the lucky one's that slipped by the sociologist jobsworths.

Don't get me wrong, I wasn't needing my hand held. I was not aware of the existance of a spell checking add on for IE (Ihad thought of looking for one but it was always an after-thought once I had switched off my PC), but I know Firefox has one.

Ah well, doesn't matter now. We all know how to get a spell checker so no excuses now!

Aye, peace sounds like a plan.

Peace.
