Bernies new idea : track rotation

Post

Ecclestone to rotate tracks on calendar?
30 March 2006
Formula One supremo Bernie Ecclestone came up with another idea in Melbourne to make Formula 1 more interesting for the fans. He is thinking about rotating the tracks F1 will visit and tracks would only host a race once every three years. This way Ecclestone expects the tracks to make a bigger hype out of the event.

The current season counts 18 races, but it is very likely to have 20 races in 2008. Venues now receive multi-year contracts when they close a deal with Ecclestone, but that can soon be changed.

Ecclestone revealed that after watching the Commonwealth Games closing ceremony, it occurred to him that many races lacked big-event hype because they were held so regularly. "You know, maybe it's because we are at the same track every year and it's the norm," Ecclestone said. "Maybe we'd be better off to have a lot more countries to visit and have the race every three years or something like that, so every three years they can make a big hype out of it."
Please somebody save us, Lets fill the calender with more crap track.

He is thinking only about filling his pockets. He owns F1 and he'd like to sell it all over the globe because he'd make more money. That is the real idea - neither Bernie or Mosley care 1% about fans or about wellfare of the sport. The sooner the general public realises that the better.

Vive la revolution!

Nice one manchild :D . But if Ecclestone is trying to compare the hype of a GP, then australia is a poor example. Australians love sport in general but F1 is never ever going to gererate the same sort of hype that Cricket, Australian Rules Football & the Commonwealth Games generate. Sure australians like F1 but a majority don't care about F1 beyond the aussie race.

Anyway if the carshaped hot-air balloon did not get people hyped up about F1 then i don't know what will

If it is to recover or introduce REAL racing circuits, I'm for it!!! (Laguna Seca, Estoril, Dijon, Brands Hatch, Bathurst...)

I'm dreaming, of course, really racing circuits aren't no more desireable for Bernie's little multimillionaire circus...

Isn't this what they used to do with the European Grand prix before it went to Germany. Whilest I agree that its a silly idea, it may be good to rotate a couple of them to include circuits which have f1 facilities but can't afford to host one each year, for example Paul Richard, Nurburgring/Hockenhiem - never could spell circuit names.

I agree, I won't fly to Hockenheim once three years and then to another circuit
   PS Bernie only cares only cares filling his with money until its explodes, he does not care 1% about the fans even

Great news! Spa is a must for F1, specially after loosing so many other great tracks.
