Ferrari at Nurburgring

Post

Ferrari did win at imola with new engine and advantage of the circuit considering that overtaking is next to impossible.

It doesn't look that they're gonna be at the pace in two weeks time, except they come up with something new. I imagine a replay of Melburne park....

Yes I don't think they really closed the gap with Renault and Mac Laren appart for the specific Imola track, but obviously they make a lot of progress with all the changes on the car. I bet Macca will be the ones to beat on the nurburgring, along with Renault (hehe, they too have a revenge to take). It' funny they plan a front suspention update just before the GP where they had this memorable failure last year... :-k I wonder if it's linked.

That's why I think they should just relentlessly improve the car to try to bridge the gap up to the Renault's all through the season. I'm just hoping Bridgestone do the same

Alonso was faster with old engine while Schuey had new one and pile of aero updates, so in Nurbugring he'll be midfielder again.

I agree with Manchild. They had no real pace over the other teams except in their first stint. They will not keep it up through the season and will always hang around 4th. Besides Alonso should have won that one!

IMO Ferrari are definitely there! This is the second time in 4 races that Ferrari and Renault have gone toe to toe. I think that this year it will be FA vs MS Renault vs ferrari all season. Mclaren will be the ferrari of 2005---always promising to improve but only delivering flashes of briliance! 8)

San Marino is generally a bridgestone track, while the Nurburgring is a michelin track, Ferrari's pace was good but I rate them behind Mclaren and ahead of Honda, but clearly Renault had the massive advantage as Alonso pitted way late on his first stint and qualified 5th, his start was excellent too, too bad about the blocks but hence that is what racing is about. He just couldn't captialized on beating Schu which he still leads by 15 points. Ferrari says they are in the hunt, because they say that Alonso can crash out or have reliabilty problems. Renault is known as a team that has good reliability. But we will let the results speak for themselves.

I like Mclaren but this webpage does have a point in that Mclaren needs to step it up and have some luck to there side, the more teams competing for the championship the better it is

Simon: Nils? You can close in now. Nils?
John McClane: [on the guard's phone] Attention! Attention! Nils is dead! I repeat, Nils is dead, ----head. So's his pal, and those four guys from the East German All-Stars, your boys at the bank? They're gonna be a little late.
Simon: [on the phone] John... in the back of the truck you're driving, there's $13 billon dollars worth in gold bullion. I wonder would a deal be out of the question?
John McClane: [on the phone] Yeah, I got a deal for you. Come out from that rock you're hiding under, and I'll drive this truck up your ass.

Alonso wasnt to far from crashing out at Imola a few mm more and he was looking at the sand trap more than once toward the end of the race. Not saying MS dosent do the same and we have all see Massa get over his head. But alas its racing if we knew what would happen we wouldnt watch

Last year, Ferrari was close to winning in 2 circuits only: Bahrain and San Marino. This year so far, they have been competitive in... Bahrain and San Marino.
Therefore, I don't think we can necessarily expect much more from them than equal last year (assuming that they don't win in Indy because the others retire).
I'm not saying they haven't improved, I'm just saying it's too early to know...

I don't think that imola is deserved as GP in season, the track is worst of season, not wide "for the show" and kerbs are awfull!

if bernie need GP to remove, i will without pain swap imola for A1-Ring or Spa!

i think we should not jump to conclusion about ferrari's pace. we still can see that renault/michelin package is better but that doesnt mean that ferrari or other teams cant fight for wins in germany or spain. i know that you renault fans have been enjoying a nice run of form but in formula 1 things can turn around so fast so there is no certainty!!

I enjoy the kerbs, but my lord they need to do something to get some overtaking, maybe some harder braking zones

Hungaroring is a potential Ferrari/BS circuit too.
But yeah I agree, if not for the track specifics Alonso would have won.
Easy on the Appletini!
