I have to say though that he´s been pretty generous with the DRS when the conditions were far from dry.

Didn't all the Q3 drivers do two timed runs?

The Mercedes drivers didn't. Not sure about Sutil and Petrov.

Also given the time difference between his runs I wouldn't be surprised if Hamilton's first run was a banker using his Q2 tyres, but I have no evidence for that. Would be interesting if there's any official information that could confirm or disprove that.

Fresh tires because in the interview Hamilton said he didn't expect to go faster on the second run.

From the BBC commentary (for what it's worth!), the yellow marked tyres are good for up to 30 laps. Presumably the premium for brand new tyres is less than previously has been the case.
Personally, while I'm a McLaren fan and it's not tended to work out terribly well for them so far, I am a little disappointed that Pirelli have wavered on the tyre longevity. I thought the idea this year was that the soft tyres were supposed to be much quicker on ultimate pace but wear out quickly - it seems like they've got away from that, which makes the faster strategy a more obvious.

I like when the tyres last long. Less interruption in the race. And the drivers push more.
This is coming from someone who prefers the bridgestones by the way. I think the DRS would alleviate any issues we had with the bridgestones and the racing.

Based on the comments by the BBC F1 team it seems to me that the improvements to the pirreli tires are starting to suit both Mark & Lewis far more than they did at the beginning of the season. Sould make for an awesome rest of the season! :)

Agree completely. F1 is too artificial already without having bogus tires thrown into the mix. IMHO races should be decided on the course, not in the pits.

They both seemed to have gotten to grips with the tyres.

agreed, i think the main problem is still the fact that its slippery off line and drivers can only over take in a straight line and interms of the the tyres i think the problem stands that u can always go in for a change, unlike 2005 if ur tyres go off u have to stay on them and there were some epic action the desperation factor when driving was amazing

Really? Then Button obviously missed that memo ;)

This race is Hamilton or Webbers. I think that one of them will for sure choke on the start line, Vettel and Alonso will be up there instantly and maybe can find a way around either of them.

But, if Webber or Vettel leads lap 1 they got the race in the bag.
Fair point, let me rephrase that then....Mclaren seem to have found something to improve the speed in LH's car.....
Generally I don't care about what people say. I have to be clear with myself. When everything goes well, people celebrate you, when you make mistakes people criticize you.

From the GP3 race it seems to be raining hard, but not hard enough for a SC start.

Id recon Buemi to start from the pit lane on a wet set up now.
