Nurburgring (place to discuss this weekends race)

Post

it seems with the first day practice.. ferrari is the only team that is challenging renault.. but interesting enough.. with anthony davidson not setting one of the top times.. i feel that honda is going to have trouble again this race..

weekend predictions?
mine:
p1,p2: alonso/shumy
p3:fisi
p4:webber/rosberg
then followed by mclaren and honda

btw.. is there any change of rain this weekend?

you think so?? In first three races Ant was really quick, (mostly P1s on Fridays i think) and yet the race pace of honda stank. But in Imola Ant was only 4th on both friday sessions but the honda had clearly imporved its race pace.

I just think (hopefully [-o< ) that Honda have got there act together and are doing longer runs in these friday sessions to get ready for race. Also, if you look at the number of laps done by teams, Honda have easily done more than any other.

you got a point there.. maybe they know that over 1 lap they are very quick and anthony davidson is solely working on race pace .. but u gotta feel that they still are behind renault and ferrari and have not closed they gap

How did this happen?

2 F. Del Monte Midland F1 1:31.093 ??

Is everybody else sandbagging?

Or is it a mistake? EDIT. Yes F1 racing got it wrong, you would never catch F1T getting it wrong

I ask this becasue

1 M. Schumacher Ferrari 1:30.788 12
2 F. Del Monte Midland F1 1:31.093 10
3 R. Schumacher Toyota 1:31.395 21
4 J. Villeneuve BMW 1:31.531 13
5 G. Fisichella Renault 1:31.584 12
6 F. Alonso Renault 1:31.807 14
7 J. Button Honda 1:32.104 16
8 C. Klien Red Bull 1:32.197 13
9 V. Liuzzi Scuderia Toro Rosso 1:32.290 17
10 K. Räikkönen McLaren 1:32.320 11
11 N. Rosberg Williams 1:32.459 15
12 S. Speed Scuderia Toro Rosso 1:32.505 18
13 R. Barrichello Honda 1:32.534 18
14 M. Webber Williams 1:32.711 16
15 N. Heidfeld BMW 1:32.773 16
16 D. Coulthard Red Bull 1:32.779 15
17 JP. Montoya McLaren 1:32.989 12
18 J. Trulli Toyota 1:33.120 24
19 T. Monteiro Midland F1 1:33.744 19
20 C. Albers Midland F1 1:34.469 21
21 F. Montagny Super Aguri 1:35.706 20
22 T. Sato Super Aguri 1:36.082 15

There is 22 car on the grid right? a 3rd cars can only run on friday testing?, how come Midland have run 3 cars? so who is missing? Edit It was Massa

Your del monte is actually Massa. Where did you got this typo? On live timing it's ok.

a bit of sand bagging from some teams maybe but that really happens on fridays, when checking fuel loads with tyres.

saturdays the teams are going for it in session 3, i think ferrari are light but who know we will find out in qualy and race

Williams have had to change both engines unfortunately.

Alonso is on his second race for his engine. As well, he is 15 points ahead of his nearest competitor. And Renault as a team are 18 points in the lead. This is race five of eighteen, we are 1/4 of the way through the season. What did Alonso and Renault do this time last year? They went the conservative route and finished all the races, but always near the top.
As well, despite Shu's win at Imola, Renault and Alonso are the class of the field and the ones that everyone has to improve and catch up on.

Bridgestones seems to be doing well on the smooth track surface as Sat Practice times show.

Ferrari front row I think today with Jenson and Alonso also up there. Macca's will be nowhere I think. They have handling issues.

anyone know any weather news?

Any predictions for big names to miss out on the final session?
I reckon JPM or Kimi are possibles.

By the way, congratulations to all French forum fans for the addition of Montagny to the fold. Nice to see a French driver again. All the best.
