HRT F111 Cosworth

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

The Add image looks like a computer rendering of HRT's present car.
Next season poses a problem for both HRT and Virgin. If one examines the deficit to the midfield pace its 3s and 2s for HRT and Virgin respctively. The fact is with a cost capped budget you won't close that gap.
If HRT could half that deficit with next year's budget it would be a miracle. One aspect Wirth got right was that the smaller team's won't compete against bigger outfits by copying them, thats why he chose an all cfd approach but he'd already been compromised with a low budget transmission.
I don't feel HRT can afford a battery KERS system for next year and the only cost effective system remains the Flybrid CFT one which I would guess is as powerful as the Williams inhouse battery system without all the complexity of installation and cooling.Being totally enclosed it needs no servicing through the season which is a massive cost saving.

Pardon??? It's a completely different design with up and over exhausts. The photoshopping of an '09 FI looks way more likely to me.

They already have an agreement for a company to provide the system in exchange for advertising, so yes, they can afford a battery KERS system, hence why you can see a BASE advert with an HRT on it.

How can it need no servicing without using way heavier components.

Anyway, any indication of whether they will use the Williams gearbox again?

PS just noticed you can see right through the front wheel, as if its got no brakes.

Getting off topic now, not that there's anything else to discuss.
Anyway for the record, all the bits that HRT changed from the FI car are circled.

Except for the paint job but, you guessed that already didn't you.

The Flybrid Clutchless Flywheel KERS is a self contained vacuum sealed unit. Apart from installation and electrical wiring there's no continuous servicing as is the case with a battery system.
I'm intrigued regards this agreed deal to run a KERS system. Is Base simply providing the bespoke batteries and paying an outside supplier to proveide the Motor Generation Unit and KERS Control Unit?

Gain from what? The image shown? They're hoping to gain advertising that buys them KERS systems...

Cheaper than organising their own photoshoot perhaps?
Or laziness :P

BASE Batteries are developing a KERS system for HRT.

Maybe they wanted a car that looked a little more aggressive or radical. The current design is pretty conservative. That's the best i can think of, sorry

May be HRT dont have enough spare chassis to have any showcars and bought a Force India and repainted it? There's a showcar company opposite FIF1s silverstone base, who have always used Jordan\FIF1 moulds for the their cars. They might have moulds for the VJM03

MarussiaVirgin is using some A1GP or whatever it was called (the texeira con )chassis for demo runs so it seems reasonable that HRT does not have any obsolete cars available just for promotion..

Who knows, but either way, it wouldn't look like a 2012 car, so it wouldn't be usable for this kind of photoshoot.
