Massa could be a good bet for a smaller team. If they can afford him. Would Renault take a Massa for Kubica trade? Or Massa going back to Sauber in a Perez swap? That would be a bit embarrassing for Massa.

Massa is getting worse, but last year he had a single DNF and this year he has had 3, so relyability hasnt been on his side. However one of those was an accedent in India with a rage enduced hitting of a kurb caused by poor judgement on Massas part with a Hamilton overtake.

I can see Massa being the first driver to be replaced next year in F1, De La Rosa will probably do more races if i am to be honest.

"He has been very lucky that the Ferrari has enough of a performance margin ahead of Mercedes and the others that he can be as much as six or seven tenths slower per lap than Alonso and still not lose positions. Were he driving in the midfield, where the margins are tight, with that kind of gap to his team mate he’d be really under the spotlight."*

Ferrari have left it too late, which is a shame, because watching Massa get worse and worse is just painful, and is costing them. With a decent back up driver to Alonso in 2010, taking points off of rivals, nando would be the youngest ever triple world champ.

Heidfeld? He'd be a solid reliable number 2.

Good point about Alonso in 2010. However if Massa had been too good he'd have taken points off Alonso ;)
Like he was a solid number two to Renault(Petrov)! Oh, come on! :D

I think this is a bit unfair - Heidfeld actually outscored Petrov in their time together.

Unfair? Unfair is to use Petrov as a benchmark. To be almost even on points, outclassed in qualifying by a driver that's almost a rookie, now only doing slighlty better than a rookie(Senna)! Now put him in a Ferrari with Alonso!

Equalling a rookie does not mean number 2 to a rookie. He was a solid equal to Petrov. That in itself was disgraceful, but he was not a number 2 to Petrov

I am exaggerating a bit(don't want to see Heidfeld back). When Petrov really showed some strong pace in the begining of the season, the team thought he would step up to lead them... it never happened.

Each situation is unique.

Funny Massa is advising Barrichello to quit, when his own career is not going to be more than a season longer.

Looks like Schumacher fans will have to hang on for bit longer.

Let's be honest, who wants to see Heidfeld back in F1? He's like De la Rosa, a good chap, a descent driver, but nothing more than that.

With the difference that Heidfeld has driven cars that could win GP's, or at least be on a podium, while he didn't.

He had his chance in F1, now it's time to do something else and give some young and eager talents an opportunity in F1.

That would be the best move for him. Driving in the DTM he could drive to the end of his career, do some TD/3rd driver stuff for Merc, and race in some endurance races.
