Oh, man, how I miss my classy, old 1971 Dodge Dart ... That engine lasted almost 25 years before the crappy chassis gave way. Actually, I sold the engine and cried a little.
Sorry guys I was wrong none of the new Direct Injection engines fire fuel at the exhaust valve. The early systems did to help vapourise the fuel and cool the exhaust valve(s). However the new versions use it to generate a stratisfied mixture to run effectively in lean burn conditions in a small area of the combustion chamber, usually in the piston crown, which requires overhead injection.zac510 wrote:Who fires it at the exhaust valve?
