Yea I saw your source (yes planet F1 is a little dodgy to be kind) I just thought I remember reading early on when Riccardo was on softs, and now I can't find it. FI looks good with that time unless he was really light because that was mediums.

Autosport reports track timing is dodgy - purple and greens are dominating the timing screens. Aparently Vettel did a triple-green lap which resulted in a laptime of 1:25.157

Plus they brought the super softs that they didn't have last week, although no one has used them yet I think :?
I doubt the Pirelli's have changed to that degree. No one has spoken about such dramatic improvements in grip from the tyres. Surely that would have been huge news by now, no?
That might be because they didn't bring them last week, and no one has used them today. Early on in the Autosport Summarry it is stated Red Branded Supersofts are at the teams disposal for the first time today, so we just don't know!

Correct me if I'm wrong,

for this season FIA has regulated the final centimeters of the exhaust, the position, and the angle. But they have ruled the engine mapping as well to limit off-throttle blowing. So even though teams could redirect the exhaust gases to feed diffuser/brake ducts/etc, they still have the engine mapping to get around or their car's downforce will be throttle-sensitive.

just my 2cents

I think everyone ran more or less LIGHT. Light as in below Half a Race fuel. Even if the car has 6-8 laps of fuel still the time WAS VERY good. Very low track temperature, first day of running on Medium Compound Tyres. This is only the 5th day of the car. They will work on it & improve the setup & probably bring small upgrades to refine the package.

For a mid-field team like Force India which came 2nd last year this time is VERY good.

Good point now were starting to get into heavier loads as some times have gone way up!

Times go Up ?

I see at 15h 10m vettel ran a 1:23.463 ... I don't see any huge increase in lap times.
Even ForceIndia is running 1:25.311 , previous laps where all in the 1:25'ish

Seems like Alonso and Hamilton are both on long stints. Hamilton seems to be on a heavy fuel load.

Torro Rosso averaging 1:31s after its earlier 1:23.6

Seems it was running light to get that time.... 8 seconds off his earlier pace

Ray that was a two flying lap stint so as much as I fear Red Bull are toying with the rest of the field. THAT is not a good example of it.
