I suspect this is Michael's car for testing tomorrow?

i hope they can challenge for some wins and podiums this year.
i doubt they'll have a different car on the last day but you never know be amazing if they had something up there sleeve.
hope the tyre deg will be fine when the races begin!
red bull and mclaren look strong then its a mystery between mercedes, ferrari and lotus, if the lotus isn't up with the big 4 then force india might surprise.

Mercedes has a few updates. Most of them are unvisible they say. Visible are a new engine cover and the air box intake is shaped like the Red Bull one. The opening behind it is gone. Plus some rumor they have some f-duct system for the rear wing. Source for all that is auto motor sport ticker.

How Aldo must feel inside seeing Ferrari go extravagant and missing their targets....

I can't imagine the smirk he must be hiding underneath all that. What a massive mistake by Ferrari......

Early days yet Ferraripilot.

But it seems that Ferrari sacking Costa on grounds of being to conservative, seems a backfire and a half.
If the F2012 exceeds the F150th, then fair its justifiable. But I dont half get the feeling that wont be the case.

Regarding the team itself, I understand from various press sources that Mercedes are gearing up for an update battle throughout the season. No cooling issues, and no excuses...lets see what they can do! :P

That would be interesting to see. In-season upgrade packages would be Costa's duty; no? I wonder how well he can take on such a job in a car that he had little to no involvement in; in terms of the concept and aeromap etc in the design phases.

george1981 wrote:On the subject of tyre degradation. Mercedes have said that the the temperatures at Barcelona are low and due to the amount of testing the track has a lot more rubber down than there would be at a GP weekend, so no conclusions can be drawn. However I'm slightly pessimistic about this. Although the absolute figures for degradation won't be the same I'm sure the pattern is correct, the Mercedes has worse tyre degradation than the Lotus and the Redbull. Can someone with superior knowledge of tyre degradation put my mind at rest?
honestly, i know i propably shouldn't, but im not really that worried. Last year merc topped the time sheets at barca in the 1.21s range but in the race weekend they couldnt get close to their testing times by a LARGE margain...so im hoping that mistakes made previously has led to some insight.

on a different note:

This is how the total testing mileage looks heading into Melbourne:

1. Mercedes 1,183 laps / 5,427.9 km / 3,358.0 mi
- 2012 car: 835 laps / 3,887.0 km / 2,400.6 mi
- 2011 car: 348 laps / 1,540.9 km / 957.4 mi

2. Williams 1,164 laps / 5,334.0 km / 3,300.4 mi

3. Ferrari 1,083 laps / 4,980.6 km / 3,080.4 mi

4. Sauber 1,073 laps / 4.926.9 km / 3,047.7 mi

5. McLaren 1,066 laps / 4,891.1 km / 3,025.9 mi

6. Caterham 990 laps / 4,527.1 km / 2,801.8 mi

7. Toro Rosso 987 laps / 4,522.7 km / 2,798.5 mi

8. Force India 942 laps / 4,341.6 km / 2,682.2 mi

9. Red Bull 941 laps / 4,312.9 km / 2,668.7 mi

10. Lotus 800 laps / 3,492.7 km / 2,163.7 mi

11. 2011 Marussia 338 laps / 1,573.4 km / 971.7 mi

12. 2011 HRT 108 laps / 478.2 km / 297.1 mi

even without the 2011 car laps they are still ahead of lotus and only a small way behind Red Bull etc. that is great IMO and i hope the car does great come OZ.
