Did anyone see Massa after qualifying in Bahrain? He looked like the saddest man in the world.

The Ferrari fans are probably sadder. Saddled with a sad car and a sad no. 2 driver.

I still think Hockenheim 2010 did him in mentally. I think if he goes somewhere where he is the undisputed number one driver, and has the reverse happen to him (ie the other guy ordered out of the way - which is very unlikely to happen) that will be a good form of shock therapy for him, and he will suddenly wake up and we'll see the old Massa. Before that happens (it probably wouldn't) I think we can kiss 08 Massa goodbye

You know.. the main problem is that Alonso is beating him so spectacularly. There are situations where one driver is better than his partner on certain tracks, certain temperatures and weather conditions, etc. But Alonso has flat out beat Massa everywere.. and not just beat him.. but beat him humiliatingly.

Next we come onto the fact that he is driving for Ferrari and the pressure on him must be crippling to deliver. There were calls to sack him from the second race this year. Bundle that with his and Hamilton's tiffs last year, team orders and a bad car and Massa is in a bad place mentally.

Personally I think no team except the backmarkers would be willing to make him top driver.

He had a strong qualifying in Bahrain. He was faster than Alonso in Q1, and used only one set of tyres in Q2, unlike Alonso, so he has a new set for the race.

Felipe was a lot closer in 2010 though. Hockenheim 2010 was the start of the decline. If you looked at him after sessions, he almost has a "what's the point of pushing" demeanor about him.

If that were his exact words, he is basically telling Felipe "Back the f*ck off, he is no.1, you are no.2 - deal with it or go away.", wich at the same time is the truth...
"...and there, very much in flames, is Jacques Laffite's Ligier. That's obviously a turbo blaze, and of course, Laffite will be able to see that conflagration in his mirrors... he is coolly parking the car somewhere safe." Murray Walker, San Marino 1985

Wow.. that should finish off the last bit of Massa's confidence. He should just retire now and save himself the humiliation. What unprofessional comments to make. He sounds like an Alonso fanboy.

Two races? He wasn't in the points in China.

Though it was a good performance from him today. Under all the pressure he is under it's even better.

I think he's shown much better pace the last couple of races, in Bahrain in particular where he has looked capable of upstaging Alonso a couple of times even if he didn't pull it off. Hopefully he's finally getting over his issues and will be able to start putting together some decent finishes.

Good drivers adapt to the circumstances though.
You can´t blame the car when you teammate can consistently do a better job for 3 years.
It doesn´t matter what regulations that come up, he´s slow either way it seems.
ever since his accident he hasn't been the same, and the win that got taken away from him didn't help also massa was on podiums in 2010 and was very unlucky in 2011 with contact from other drivers, having to stay out longer to help fernando and like i said theres always pressure in any team to deliver but even more so in ferrari. i see your point but don't forget fernando is favoured by ferrari and i don't think other drivers would like to drive for ferrari right now because of those reasons.

nothing against fernando he's a awesome driver but massa has been unlucky 2008 2009.
in 2010 he got podiums 2011 unlucky with lewis and that, 2012 not got a great car but when they do i'm sure he'll do well
decent race in bahrain today for felipe

He was only 5 seconds behind Alonso in China which is why it was a good race. I don't suspect many drivers would be able to regularly beat Alonso, certainly not any available drivers, so if Massa's recent performance continues, I don't see much point in replacing him.
