Several different applications have been found for the software McLaren use for data gathering, among which hospital and airports have been reported on. Most big companies I know still using XP, although they use Win 7 for new PCs. But for the existing one, they don't really upgrade it just for the sake of having the latest OS. But all depending on what they required. XP and Win 7 doesn't really have big gap in terms of basic feature and functionality that generally used at work. I find it interesting in that regard that McLaren are seen to still be running Windows XP, while at least some teams have migrated to Windows 7. Interesting because hospitals and airports aren't notable for being on the cutting edge when it comes to upgrading their software and operating systems. So perhaps because of their own environment, McLaren's software has an edge when it comes to licensing opportunities like that?

Agree 100%, I'll loose a hell of a lot of respect for him if he is only going to be where the money is, JB proved back in 09 its was the racing he cared about, Hamilton is already starting to show it's about the money, where else could he go? If he wants to be regarded as one of the 'best ever' and win multiple championships as he has intimated many times in the past then Mclaren who are consistantly winning and consistantly building great cars (and, lets be honest, the last 3 have been, it's just that the RBRs have been excellent!) have got to be his overwhelmingly best option.
If he decides that he fancies an easy ride to £10m+ a year whilst sitting in a car that since its conception as Mercedes (one race notwithstanding) hasn't ever looked like challenging for wins let alone titles, then good luck to him but i'll have lost a lot of respect for him (which is obviously more important than the tens of millions of pounds, the supermodel girlfriend, the Monte Carlo mansion and endless supply of supercars
The team is not McLamilton, they have lost huge stars in the past and not blinked an eye. And besides, it's not as if the pool of drivers is running dry at the moment!
Well they aren't consistently producing title winning machinery though are they, that's the problem. In Hamilton's time there have been three, 07, where they didn't win it, 08, where he won it, and this year, where a large number of blunders have blunted his challenge.
