A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.
Top end speed should help more in S2 though - so that should be visible clearly. S1 is about trail braking into T1, compound traction on the exit, then a flat out section before you hit the sector marker.
Kimi had more downforce compared to Alonso, thats why Kimi was faster in s1 s3 compared to Alonso who was faster in s2
Only other last 6 laps when Kimis tyres were gone that he was slower in s3

They said they will not use it in 2012 races, so I presume that first of all they want to tune up the exhaust furthermore to give them the maximum benefit for the remaining 2 races. Maybe they will test the DRD tomrrow or the day after.
"...and there, very much in flames, is Jacques Laffite's Ligier. That's obviously a turbo blaze, and of course, Laffite will be able to see that conflagration in his mirrors... he is coolly parking the car somewhere safe."Murray Walker, San Marino 1985
Immediate first thought as well. I am guessing that it's more for visibility for the young driver, as it wouldn't normally behoove a team to have the helmet disrupt airflow to the airbox like that.
