The article has no sense and it appeals too much to the past in trying to prove that Alonso is somehow mentally instable and a little bit psychotic. It has no backing about the facts that Alonso "pushed" Ferrari into asking clarification about the "yellow flag incident" in Brazil and about the fact that he also "pushed" Ferrari into insinuating that Vettel has signed with them for 2014.

What makes it a good read? And please, show me a single multi-WDC in the last 35 years who can be called a genuine sportsman?

I don't think there is. A large part of what fuels them to be competitive creatures IS that they're sore losers. Now I'm not saying it's a bad thing - I'm one of the world's sorest losers myself. But (without reading the article) - I personally agree that Alonso isn't a good sportsman. Nor is Hamilton/Vettel/Raikkonen/etc, for that matter. They all want to win - and hate it when others win.

But when you have a paragraph like this attributed to you - who gives a sh*t?
Other certainly more trivial matters – in a purely machismo-obsessed F1 paddock way – increase Fernando’s standing in the paddock. Our Spanish hero is not only quick on track but swift with the ladies too, reputedly having bedded the majority of the more attractive female TV presenting dollies that flounce up and down Formula 1’s expensive catwalk.

Alonso is a competitor, he wants to win and will do so at nearly any cost, this is not something unique to him.
We could make the same case for Vettel crying on the radio or Hamilton last year saying it´s because he´s black the FIA was on his ass.

Nothing to see here, move along.

I was wondering about the dirty tricks reference. So that has been cleared up now.

I guess reactions were quite different in Spain and elsewhere following Alonso's Twitter comment. The German media certainly saw it as a lack of sportsmanship and it looks like prominent figures and bloggers in the UK share that feeling. In the end it is all a question of your emotional position towards Fernando. I have never been a fan by heart but I must admit his 2012 driving had the hall mark of greatness. Initially he and Ferrari were gracious in accepting defeat. So I would be inclined to account the blame for the flag affair to the Tifosi who started the internet riot.

We cant really blame Ferrari and Alonso for wanting clarification.

What a poorly written and quite frankly shitty article. Dave Jorgensen needs to check his facts and actually do some research into the mind of a driven sports person, he is making wild of the cuff remarks without any evidence and bizarre insinuations. You would need to be clinically ill to take anything away from that torrid article. :x

The clarification was not only a poke at red bull it was also a slap to the stewards who they considered hadn't done their jobs. A quite word in Charlie's ear would have prevented all of this as charlie would gave a quiet word back clearing it up. Instead it was a public and official attempt to take something which was not theirs and too which they still consider they deserve more.

I'm pretty sure that the Mods will close this thread ( and this is good ):

I'm not sure if some of you would react different as Vettel or Alonso.
