Vettel Next In Line For ‘No. 1’ Ferrari Seat

Post

Not sure how Alonso will feel after hearing this.

Sergio Perez, Nico Hulkenberg and Romain Grosjean also on their watched list, but not Lewis.

Alonso out and Alonso and Hamilton to Red Bull!
"There is a credit card with the Ferrari logo, issued by Santander, which gives the scuderia a % of purchases made with the card...

I would guess that such a serious amount of money would allow them to ignore the constant complains of a car that was nowhere near as bad as their #1 driver tried to sell throughout the season.

Heck, a car on which Massa finishes in the podium or has to lift so that his teammate finishes ahead (As we saw often in the final races of the year) is, by no means, a "bad" car."

"Because he is younger, and because Ferrari would be Hamilton's third team. And if you've reached your third team, your career is already in its second half."
Funny how MdZ forgets that RedBull is Vettel's second team and thus Ferrari would be his third team, just as it would be with Hamilton. Ferrari is Alonso's fifth team when he arrived (Minardi, Renault, McLaren, Renault, Ferrari). And yet he wouldn't have Hamilton because Ferrari would be his third team.

Oh, and Ferrari was Schumacher's third team too after Jordan and Benetton.

I guess adding up isn't MdZ's strongest ability...

Alonso wont go until his contract is over, and probably his option is exercised, there is also no way Santander will allow that to happen, they are heavily funding ferrari and to cut Alonso's contract would mean cutting Santander's contract as well.

Yes, Felipe is still on a knifes edge, and has to outperform his teams expectations to even have a remote chance at staying. So its no surprise that they are looking for a number 2.

Actually RBR is the third F1 team Vettel is driving for. BMW Sauber, Scuderia Toro Rosso, Red Bull Racing were the teams he drove for. Ferrari would be team #4.

A team and driver contract is a mutual thing, if driver doesn't want to continue with the team, the team cant insist he drives, and same happen if the team decided to find a replacement no.1

Santander is a big sponsor, but they are not irreplaceable

I actually think it is just a stupid and illogical excuse for not wanting a dark color Ferrari driver.

I don't think it is to do with Hamilton's skin colour. But rather what he said in the past. Hamilton always said it clearly he never had interest to go to Ferrari.
Any team or company that you work with, the employee is expected to be committed and have the passion to do their job. No sign of Hamilton's passion to be in a Ferrari.
This is quite the opposite to Vettel who see Ferrari as a team of special status.

Ferrari is a national symbol for the italians. italians football fans for example, are infamous for the racism towards colored skin footballers. Even Berlusconi once described US President Barack Obama as tanned.

Given a choice, I think Ferrari would want to avoid getting into any controversy which could badly affect their brand image.

Ferrari have shown their hands to be spoil sports and bad losers. By 'wanting' to be a part of that, you tell the world you endorse that. In a world where the drivers own brand is arguably becoming as important if not more so - anything that damages or reduces the effectiveness of that brand would have to be considered in any team switch. Just ask Hamilton.

Hmmm, a german driving for a team that doesn't condone racism. Probably not a good look for anyone.

What a silly non-story.

Ferrari boss says he is incredibly happy with his current driver, but if the sky fell on the head of the current driver then they would love to sign a triple world champion.

Next week we'll stop press to announce that bears pop in the woods. No doubt someone will quibble if they are black or brown bears. #-o
