Has anyone ever won a trophy at every circuit raced?

Post

That is, is there a driver who has been on the podium at every venue he has raced at, whether it took multiple races or not?

Her Schumacher must be the favourite, although the stat favours someone who turned up, did amazingly well very briefly and then quit too.

Inspired by "Trophy Hunter" achievement in F1 2011 - win a trophy at each circuit. Definitely a question for those with impressive statto spreadsheets..

Vettel almost did it all in one year in 2011. Just left out Germany and Dubai, which he won at Dubai, and got podium at Germany in 2009 and 2010.

Vettel hasn't had a podium in Fuji, Magny Cours and Indianapolis. I imagine if someone has done it then they didn't spend that much time in F1 and they have had a dominant season or 2.

IIRC at 2006 Schuey was close to that, although he didn't have a podium at LeMans and probably at some junior series races (IIRC again) he also didn't get podium at Donington.

Oooh, good point, I misread the question. I was thinking of the 2013 calendar races.

Lewis Hamilton would be the best bet with a short career in a top team only.

I didn't watch when Alonso was in his Minardi days, but I'd rule him out because of his career length.

Ascari I'd imagine was close too with his abrupt ending :(

Although has has achieved a podium at every circuit for Red Bull. It'd probably be more realistic to phrase it as getting a podium for every circuit for a team.

I once made a list of the 6 WDCs of '12, giving them points for their highest finishing result at each track they ever drove at.
Unforrtunately, I can't find it anymore, but off the top of my hat, Schumacher both won on overall points and average points; I think Vettel was second, with Hamilton and Alonso close 3rd and 4th.

Hi, guys. I haven't read this site in ages, but this question caught my eye because I know the answer.

Well, of course it has happened, and no, it's not Schumacher nor Vettel, people. You need a South American to do things like that. Those racers are mere padawans of the Master, Juan Manuel Fangio, El Chueco.

You could argue he did not won the only time he raced at Indy, but c'mon: you do not want to argue with me on that (and I doubt very much I would argue given the spare time I have these days: nil).

He technically did not race at Indy, because he retired before the race when he could not get up to speed after practicing for several months (a fact that speaks volumes to me when comparing American and European racing, but that's another very convoluted issue I prefer not to delve into).

He not only won a trophy: he won the race at every circuit he raced, except Aintree and Pescara, where he ended in second place.

Of course, you have to take in account that he raced only twice at Aintree (he retired from the other race) and he raced only once at Pescara (it was the only F1 race ever held there).

I give you the first time he won at every circuit he raced (he won several times at most of them).

Silverstone, 1956
Monaco, 1950
Bremgarten, 1951
Spa Francorchamps, 1950
Reims-Gueux, 1950
Monza, 1953
Nürburgring Nordschleife, 1954
Pedralbes, 1951
Autódromo 17 de Octubre, 1954
Zandvoort, 1955
Autódromo Municipal Ciudad de Buenos Aires, 1955
Aintree, 1955 (he ended in second place)
Rouen-Les-Essarts, 1957
Pescara, 1957 (he ended in second place)

When people talk about Schumi being the greatest in history, God smiles.

And, believe me, God likes racing almost as much as I do and he's also never wrong.

Perhaps you shouldn't... there is no authority in engineering.

It's easy to check José Froilán González. He missed Monaco the only time he raced there.

Stirling Moss missed Bremgarten, but he also raced once there. He did not reach first place, but podium at every venue. On the other hand he won Pescara. You could also argue he never reached podiums in Goodwod, Heysel Park, Syracuse, Solitudering or Snetterton, but, believe me, you shouldn't do that either: those were non-championship races.

I do not have the time to check Ayrton Senna, but perhaps someone has. After all, he was another South American (ergo, his Kung Fu was strong).

You could also check Alberto Ascari, although I know he missed Pedralbes (fourth place in two attempts) and Indy (miserable 31st, only time he raced there).

Mario Andretti had the worst of lucks at Monaco, as Jim Clark.

Graham Hill failed at Portugal.

I would also check Denny Hulme and, people...

Who could forget John Love? He almost only raced (several times) at South Africa GP, but the guy from Bulawayo, Rhodesia, ended his 1967 race in SECOND place and only because he had to pit seven laps from the end... in a car he had built and tuned... walking through snow and rain, barefoot, hungry and shivering (I'm joking, of course: there is no tuning in South Africa).

That was huge news when I was starting to follow F1. Of course, he fvcked up when he tried to race in Italy... and he did not qualify. Darn. I'd blame the ragazzas. Just look at Berlusconi if you don't believe me.

Your posts have been much missed Ciro. Please don't re-leave F1T!

In other news - the name Fangio came up when I thought of this, as he had a winning car at just about every race he entered. Mind you I didn't know if he had actually did it - but I thought, if anyone had done it, it would most likely have been Fangio.

I concur with Ray, your return is nothing short of welcomed and spot on research mate El Chueco...look at all those beautiful tracks listed....if only they returned... +1

I still have VHS tapes of GP of Mexico and Buenos aires (Argentina).
If someone said to me that you can have three wishes, my first would have been to get into racing, my second to be in Formula 1, my third to drive for Ferrari.

Bored by work but inspired by Ciro, I went for some wiki-fishing for the obvious candidates. I'll mention first fail, as I haven't bothered to check all. Of the current drivers, none qualifies. Vettel misses Indy, Alonso misses A1-Ring and Hamilton misses just India. Pre-return Kimi was good, but missed Singapore; he also lacks silverware from the new ones (and the old Hockenheim, if you want to argue). Jenson surely misses on A1-ring (check), Magny Cours (check) or something like that (surprise! Silverstone!). Of these guys, Vettel won't get Indy or Fuji, Alonso and Button won't get A1-Ring and Kimi... well, he probably doesn't give a poo.

Of the classic drivers, the obvious candidates not mentioned by Ciro are Jackie Stewart (misses on Prince George, RSA), Niki Lauda (Montjuich, Spain), Alain Prost (misses on Zoldberg), pre-return Michael still misses on Kyalami and Senna misses on TI Aida (his penultimate race). Senna also missed the podium in Zoldberg (like Prost!), and then I thought, with all the US craze in the 80`s, his chances of missing nothing else are slim with the reliability of his era.

So my answer is this: I believe other than Fangio, only the Indy 500 guys in the podium in the 50`s have got a trophy at every F1 circuit they've raced at. Hamilton has a nice shot at it, though.
I am not amazed by F1 cars in Monaco. I want to see them driving in the A8 highway: Variable radius corners, negative banking, and extreme narrowings that Tilke has never dreamed off. Oh, yes, and "beautiful" weather tops it all.
