So Ferrari is gonna do a test with a 2011 car but with 2013 FWs and RWs etc, Red Bull are complaining and asking FIA bout the rules and clarification

If my memory is correct then Horner also stated that that was the car configuration Ferrari had already used at their previous Pirelli test.

any thoughts on replacing Massa with a younger sharper driver to be Alonso's #2?

from experienced drivers i feel Heiki could do a better job than massa, can't think of any other decent quality driver with experience that would want to partner Alonso in ferarri.
From the young drivers, i guess Bianchi. Hulkenberg or Diresta is good but i don't think they'll play #2 so easily.
For Sure!!

Agree -- sadly -- that Massa should be replaced. I like Hulkenberg as a good #2.

More important: how long will Alonso continue to throw away some of his best years driving for a team that cannot deliver him a winning car?

i don't know how many more year they will take to fix that damn "qualifying issue" , you build car every other year with same set of issue , this year they can't even complain about "wind tunnel" , something is seriously wrong with them and issue is Fernando has no where else to go but to stick with "crippled prancing Horse" for now.

Sometimes you just have to tip your cap to your rivals for doing the job better. Since Alonso has been with Ferrari, and excluding 2011, the year in which Adrian Newey's Red Bull was unstoppable, the team has produced competitive machinery that narrowly missed out on two Drivers' Championships by a combined seven points. Erase a tactical error at Yas Marina in 2010 and the mistake of an overzealous Lotus driver at Spa in 2012, or any number of self-inflicted wounds on-track elsewhere, and the team's record of achievement over the last few years could look markedly different. But, that's racing. You win some; you lose some.

Agree completely. However, IMHO, Give Newey:
1) a competitive budget
2) decent facility
3) top 5 driver

and he'll give you a championship.

Ferrari, M-B and McLaren (and possibly Lotus) have 1), 2), and 3), but they do not have Newey. Results speak for themselves. That's why I'm hoping Allison goes to Ferrari. IMHO, the only way to beat Newey is with a group of highest quality technical people. There's one preeminent genius in F1 -- Newey -- and it will take an excellent team of very good people to beat him. Maybe.

Too bad it didn't work so easily for Mclaren. Newey popped out some dogs back then(18 & 21)

Well that hasn't been proven yet. Mercedes show that a group of smart people can come close, but only so much.
Newey still makes the best car on all tracks. The car is so similar to the rb5 of 2009, and yet still so dominant.
He's making cars in a different dimension is all i can say.
Only a car that is illegal can beat a newey car over a season.

I disagree Ringo: the car has to be so progressive that it falls in the grey areas of the rules...like Newey's cars.

I don't see where Newey car have any grey areas. People suspect they do, but there isn't really any evidence to support that.
What i do know is that his car has a minimum of 11% more downforce than any other car; which is not due to loopholes in the regulations. I am yet to reveal this but anyhow lets not divert from SF2013.

According to Rodi Basso, ex-Ferrari engineer, Allison is in fact going to Maranello.

How good is Allison, and what does he bring talent wise to Ferrari?

So , in addition to Allison, Mike Coughlan is also available. Just wondering how long the often impatient Ferrari leadership will wait for Fry to produce a winner.
