I think that Vettel will not throw the toys as you said, at least I expect him to show a lot more dignity than Alonso in 2007. Vettel has nicely matured over the last three years and IMO he does not deserve the permanent negative judgement that I seem to read in every single post that you do on him. Perhaps a slightly more balanced opinion would also be more convincing.
I agree. However, the situation with Alonso and Hamilton in 07 was very different - Alonso was expected to be the fastest of the two as no one expected Hamilton to be immediately up to his full F1 potential so quickly and to be so close/equal to Alonso in raw pace. The fact that Hamilton was British (and thus brought with him the largest media following) and that he felt the British team was favouring him as the season progressed acted as catalysts to the inevitable falling out.
Raikkonen is a well established top-tier driver and World Champion whom Vettel would not be expected to easily beat at all. There would be no "shame" for either driver if they were fairly even on pace (and I wouldn't expect one to outright dominate the other) so I wouldn't expect any falling out between the two like what occurred between Alonso and McLaren and Hamilton. Would the team favour Vettel in a close fight between their two drivers, as they supposedly did in 2010? It's debatable, but if they are pursuing Raikkonen for Webber's seat, they want him because he can win races
and championships, not for him to support Vettel's title runs. You wouldn't buy a Ferrari for driving your kids to school, would you?
And if Vettel wouldn't play second fiddle, what of it? Did Webber play that role convincingly anyway? What top driver is going to embrace a second fiddle role? Would the STR drivers do so? Maybe if you put it in their contracts. But unless the driver is outright signed on as a clear number 2, or the driver is clinging to his race seat and will do anything to keep the team happy, no good driver would be willing to play second fiddle in a championship-calibre team.
