I don't agree. Alonso had a fast car, but not the fastest. Kimi had it. In 2006, Ferrari was not good at the start of the season but again, Alonso had a most reliable car (remember Suzukagodlameroso wrote:The difference being Alonso had the fastest car in 05 and for much of 06, and Massa in 08. The cars are far more evenly matched this year than in those. It may be that there is still a difference in pace of the cars, but I don't think it's enough for Alonso to just be left in the dust like he was in the last two races, just in my opinion.
Well Alonso had two DNF in 2006 , Hungary due to suspension and Monza due to engine failure ! But if you look race and qualy results of Alonso and Schumi cars were pretty much even!tpe wrote:I don't agree. Alonso had a fast car, but not the fastest. Kimi had it. In 08, Massa lost the championship for a number of reasons:
1. Kimi until France was the No 1 Ferrari driver.
2. Until France, Ferrari was the fastest car, but after Germany, McLaren was faster.
3. Although BMW Sauber was a fast car and Kubica was the championship leader Ferrari was clearly a better car.
In my opinion, from 2006 and onwards, the cars are very evenly much with some notable exceptions: Brawn 09 and Red Bull 2011.
I am not sure if many people remember here that, Rory is already working full steam on 2014 design. So, obviously Ferrari is betting on his design for success in 2014.donskar wrote:In the past, "huge new regs" have meant a dominant car from Newey. You cannot judge the engineering of any of the cars next year whether good or bad as someone I think will get lucky and many will not. Lotteries are not a place to determine talent. If Ferrari, or any top echelon team for that matter, is a dud next year, i say see how they improve throughout the year. If they suck it and are still crap by end of the year, then 2015 should determine fate, but I don't think it's wise to nix a smart guy like Fry next year if the car is not a winner. I know it's subjective and many will disagree, but imo, a huge new regs year is no place for determining if a guy of Fry's caliber should be booted out.
Well its interesting now that ESPN has joined the bandwagon:Kiril Varbanov wrote:J. Allison to Ferrari, according to AUTOSPORT - http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/108948
Rory B has supposedly been playing some sort of role for a couple years now. I wonder just where he fits in the technical team? I sense (no proof whatever) that he is just a part-time consultant, and not a leading player. (I'd like to be wrong about this.)prince wrote:I am not sure if many people remember here that, Rory is already working full steam on 2014 design. I see. Newey deserves little or no credit for Red Bull's success. I guess you and I can agree to disagree.tpe wrote:[Offtopic]donskar wrote:IF roles, responsibilities, and authority are clearly defined, this is only a good thing. Come on... Seriously, you think that Newey designs ANYTHING on RB? I just don't believe it. He is the Technical Director. Have you ever seen a Technical Director to do ANYTHING? Certainly, he provides the general working ideas, the framework for his people to work on. But, that's all. That must be all. Otherwise, he is a semi-god. And I don't believe in Myths anymore.

No, I don't say that. All I say is that Newey has to be credited for what is actually worth. I am 100% sure that he has a team of brilliant people. But most people say "Newey" and how much God-like he is.donskar wrote:

He's like an asymptote. He cannot be touched!!donskar wrote:IF roles, responsibilities, and authority are clearly defined, this is only a good thing.
