Hulkenberg hasn't done enough to earn it. Grosjean's had more better peformances than Nico. Grosjean's grown over the course of the season and can actually take the helm at Lotus. Hulkenberg has grown in his racecraft but Grosjean's done the same in the company of Raikkonen, Vettel, Hamilton and such.

Big fan of Nico, but no. Driver of the year is decided upon the entire year, not the last few races. There's only one candidate for the top spot, and I'd say Kimi and Lewis for 2/3. But Nico can certainly challenge Alonso and Grosjean.

I have to go with Alonso. Just amazing what he gets out of this crappy car.

Agreed. To manage to lead so many laps with a car that heavy and that slow. Amazing.

Driver of the year?
it has to be Vettel ,judging from his teammate who did not win a single race thus far ?
Hulk deserves a place up there as well -he never bowed and consistently delivered unfortunatelly the car did too often not allow him to bag points.
Grosjean no .We should not forget he was trailing Kimi by quite a margin at the beginning of this year and only recently found new confidence.
Alonso is certinly delivering the goods in terms of pure racecraft but to me a team leader needs to guide his team towards developing the car forward ....it does not happen.
Same with Button ,he is not giving up yet seems unables to give the team a development direction .
Neither Hamilton nor Rosberg have showed consistency this year it tips and turns they seem to be quite comfortable in leaving it as it is ....but really nothing outside the norm here .

My vote goes for Vettel with Hulk in second position .

I have created a poll for the 6 drivers mentioned here.
Please cast your vote wisely..:)

i believe last year, F1 racing voted Alonso as the driver of the year, but I really doubt he will win it again this year.

Vettel/Alonso/Hulkenberg, to hard to pick between them because I don't have the ability to judge which one has performed better relatively. Button worth a mention too, I don't think he has got enough credit for his workings at Mclaren this year in what is a dog of a car.

I don't understand the hard on for Romain, he is in the same car as Kimi for goodness sake and the points gap tells you the story. Kimi isn't as fast in quali as Romain I feel, but you can't be the best driver if you keep getting thrashed in the race by your team mate even when he qualifies 10 places lower than you.

I think the simple fact is that Button and Alonso have been let down by their respective teams. Time and time again Ferrari has been lacking in development, not helped this season by the change of tyres mid season. Mclaren under the stewartship of Lowe and Whitmarsh decided to implement a radical overhaule of their 2012 car, similar to what they did for the 2011 car which also proved a bad decision at the start of the season - a team that doesn't learn from their mistakes has something wrong in their decision making process.

Ultimately drivers can only do so much. Both teams I believe suffer from a lack of direction at the top of their team. Nothing the drivers can do about that. Red Bull have the best team, much of which was put in place before Vettel even arrived by Coultard and to a lesser extent Webber - so I can't really credit Vettel for team building.

As I said, making a relative judgement is too hard. No one knows how the others would perform is they were in each others situation.

Vettel by far....

Alonso had mistakes early in the season plus his qualifying is a bit of issue.
