Last year they needed only 45min. to change it!
As for the engine swap instead of 2hrs. last year now they need a whooping 6 hrs. to do that !!
So if are doing that at FP1 you could miss FP2, or if you are at FP3 you could miss Qualy, so it`s a very important year in terms of reliability of the power-train ...
Bear in mind that this is probably only the third or fourth time that the mechanics have stripped down the car and rebuilt it. A lot of these times will improve with familiarity with the parts and the layout.

Sure they improve but still if you don't create the PU in clever way you will suffer. I mean even now on some normal cars you need to remove whole light before you're able to change a bulb in it. You can improve you "change the bulb time" but still be slower than the kind with back access removable cover. I don't say Mercedes is this case.

Thats quite a lot if you ask me. It often takes less to change a gearbox of a regular car.
I'm a mechanic and I would like to know how you change a gearbox in 2 hours on a regular car. You're way off...it's never done

I think, you should devide your figures by the number of teams running the engines.

Of course SOME cars can be done in under 2 hours not all, also keep in mind these cars are designed with serviceability in mind.

Ted said that it takes approximately 2 hours to replace the transmission on the 2014 chassis, and upwards of 6 hours for engine replacement.

These times will probably go down, but he emphasized that the duration will be the differentiators between grid placement and starting at the pits during a race weekend.

What's the fastest time set by a Renault powered car so far this week? they all seem to be taking it easy.

That mercedes is a beast. It's constantly clocking in 1:38's and 1:39's, when literally everybody else never got under a 1:40.

Rosberg also told the car doesn't feel too different from last year. I think if you can say that in your first week, then you can be proud.

They just did.

Raikkonen says the same.

Yup they did. Still very much impressed though. After Tuesday I had my reservations, but those were blew away.
