Well, I like the place. I know it's not very educated to speak about another site using this site server space, but I cannot resist. The story of racing there is comprehensive, they are FIA providers for the racing database, or so they say.
Of course, F1Tech rocks, the level of knowledge (Tif exempted: he goes there by a similar nick) is never close to the one you find here: people here KNOWS in a less opinionated way (me exempted
). If you have a peculiar question about F1, ask here.
However, if you wish to rant to your hearts content, gp.com it's a nice place, even if people tend to be pretty rough. It's one of the rare totally unmoderated forums. Manchild is a lover of Ferrari compared to some guys there and, on the other hand, mx_tifosi or Allan have a mild preference for Ferrari compared with the blind devotion you'll find there.
I hate the content's change, even if I like the new appearance: I lost my password. I use my browser's feature for remembering passwords, so I rarely enter them and, after the change, the login page address changed and I couldn't remember the password. I'm still waiting for the forum administrator to give me a new one. Anyway, I think the presentation F1Technical has is way much better, in terms of stetics and ease of use. Before the change, gp.com was horrible, now it's vaguely ugly...
Another thing I hate is that you have like, I don't know, 15 seconds to edit your posts before the are "fixed" forever and I tend to spend 15 minutes just writing a post and correcting it. That's why I write such long ones...
F1Technical is really superior in terms of news, not only to that site, but to anyone I know. To get the level of information you can get here, you have to go to FoxSports or something like that, and in a "big news organization" you won't find the devotion for detail you find here. The car database here is a jewel in the Net and Tomba has the eyes of an eagle and a knowledge of the intrincacies of an F1 car no webmaster I know has. He seems like a cross of a mechanical engineer with a systems engineer... by a fox.
A fox devoted to consignate all the characteristics of F1 cars made since the Deluge until our times.
However, if you wish to read about the "tale of the race" for Monaco 1957, gp.com is a great place. The "editorial articles" are great and very original for my taste. I wonder who writes them.
