It's not all a positive; they can't use the pylons (or simply don't, because I believe they can place them on the actual nose) as turning vanes. That'll give serious consequences when in a yaw.Gridlock wrote:It's fugly, but the front-on shot really makes me admire how much air they must be getting to the underneath of the car - or at the very least, how much more open it appears to be than eg the Ferrari/Merc solution.
Isnt the package the same, but in collaboration with the Renault ppl they can package the package differently ? As in you dont order it to look like this but you make it look like this at the factory together with the Renault ppl, so perhaps no extra cost involved ?ringo wrote:What if this team is more reliable with the renault engine because they paid for a less complicated package?
just thinking out loud.
Possibly, but Caterham are the only ones with baggy sidepods and the only ones doing quite well, relatively.Blackout wrote:The other Renault teams say they dont have cooling issues. Engine cooling is not the issue for them. The problems are elswhere.
If the baggy sidepods were the real reason why Caterham did much more laps until now, the other Renault powered team would have adopted the same kind of large sidepods in order to run as much as possible.
From this angle, this is one of the most beautiful car this year.Manoah2u wrote: http://media.crash.net/original/PAPhoto4srl_569297.jpg .
