If he is not joining McLaren, then where is he off too? Not RedBull. And not Mercedes. Staying at Ferrari might be one option, though I can only imagine the fun if that happens, in regards to Vettel that was supposed to head out there. Maybe Kimi will be shafted for the second time out of a contract? #-o

There's only one certainty that I see; Vettel is leaving RedBull Racing so he is either off to Ferrari or McLaren.
Vettel 100% to Ferrari it is his dream and his race engineer has already made the switch to Ferrari. Alonso is doing his best to confuse McLaren, he trying to make them think that he has more options. But he really hasn't its McLaren or nothing, Alonso want a seat at Mercedes but he is to late. He didn't take the leap that Hamilton did by leaving McLaren. That was his mistake and I bet he is regretting that choice big time. Could Alonso stay and Kimi leave, that is 100% a option. Because Kimi has only a 1 year deal left and Alonso a 2 year deal so paying Kimi off is the cheaper option for Ferrari.
Irvine:"If you don't have a good car you can't win it, unless you are Michael or Senna. Lots of guys won in Adrian Newey's cars, big deal. Adrian is the real genius out there, there is Senna, there is Michael and there is Newey. They were the three great talents."

Staying it is an option that many are not considering but if we look at recent interviews and news, it might be the case if it is not anounced Mclaren this weekend.

Alonso - I will not drive a mercedes engine next year, it will be the best for ferrari, my future is gonna be better than this year (Mclaren at the moment are behind Ferrari)

Raikonen - I am in a situation that I hate , it is fustrating the problems I have

Matiacci manage to unfreeze the engine rules

Staying 1 year at Ferrari, nearly finishing his contract, see if there is a progress with the ferrari PU and gamble to get the seat at Mercedes and also show he is better driver than Vettel, Why not?

Raikkonen is driving for Ferrari in '15, there's no doubt about that. He recently renewed his contract (2015 +1 year option, 2mil paycut ) and do you guys REALLY think he doesn't have a huge clause in his contract, making sure Ferrari can't ditch him again, without paying an enormous sum of money? Come on... The only likely scenario for Fred to be with Ferrari in '15 is when Vettel would join Mclaren.

So, stop the fanatasies... Fred's masterplan failed completely and he's joining Mclaren or leaving F1.

If that IS the case it's looking more hopeful that Button keeps his seat?

Turned down the chance to meet Vettel at Silverstone in 2007. He was a test driver at the time and I didn't think it was worth queuing!! 🤦🏻‍♂️

@PitLaneTalk 1 Oct 2014 - Thank you for all the disrespectful messages. The account will only be deleted if Alonso won't leave Ferrari at the end of 2014. #F1.

They'e changed their tune already then....because "won't leave Ferrari" is not the same as "is going to McLaren"....

The message was posted at 1 october; they haven't changed their tune because since then we had the Suzuka developments.

It's strange though; they closing their account would mean there's something solid developing in the background that got leaked out?

Or an attempt to get all the bad messaging at their account to halt, which means a temporary closure in the awaitance of the going-through-after-all announcement of Alonso at mclaren.

Just taking articles that came out today, it still looks very much moving towards a mclaren-alonso deal:
http://www.grandprix247.com/2014/11/05/ ... -hardball/
Another piece of the puzzle, he said, were “several meetings” in Austin last Sunday morning when “Santander marketing representatives” sat down with their McLaren counterparts ahead of the United States Grand Prix.

Although the Spanish banking group is signed up to stay with Ferrari as a major sponsor, Santander – closely and personally aligned with Alonso – has worked with McLaren since 2007, with branding still prominent on the drivers’ chests.
Bild is even quoting Bouillier directly, who confirms negotations are ongoing!
http://www.bild.de/sport/motorsport/mcl ... .bild.html

So while it's still speculating where he'll end up with, it looks fairly save to say he's going to leave ferrari, and that he is negotiating with mclaren. I think we can mark those as facts.

I don't say it as an ultimatum, it is a possibility, He has in his hands the outcome, failed his masterplan or not, if Ferrari haven't announced Vettel yet it is because Fernando pay out it is huge too, Alo can decide to stay if he wants to, he has a contract and in that case maybe is cheaper for ferrari to pay out Raikonen who haven't show many great things this year.

Also Mclaren has given him an ultimatum meaning it is on Alo hands again what it is gonna happen. I don't think he has lost the control of the situation. He has the privilage to push the time as further as he wants to see what it is the best decision.
Legally by know he still Ferrari driver for the next 2 years.
