Ferrari SF15-T Pre-Launch Speculation Thread

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

If Ferrari is only 10hp down with their ICE, but lack the ERS capability, then there is some hope that they can make in-roads into Mercedes's advantage.

In pre-season testing at Bahrain, Ferrari managed the fastest, or nearly fastest, straight line speed. That, however, had to be preceeded by a slow lap with little or no ERS usage and followed by another slow lap with little or no ERS.

This would tend to support the ICE being in teh ballpark, but not the overall PU.

I know this is somewhere on this site, but I can't find it.
Can anyone link to the token cost sheet that shows how many tokens each part, or sums of parts, cost to change out?

Thank you.

You mean the engine? Try the engine unfreeze thread.

Last page.

The upper and lower crankcase (Cylinder bore spacing, deck height, bank stagger), the crankshaft and the air valve system have been frozen since Feb 28 2014 (for those who homologated engines then) and cannot be changed.

For 2016 the upper and lower crankcase (All dimensions including Cylinder bore position relative to legality volume, water core), valve drive - camshafts, cam drive (gear train) and ancillaries drive are also frozen.

If the intercooler is the one we see in the video it's impossible to install it in the same position. Push Rod near to be impossible, the have to redesign completely the car, the driver position, almost everything.
But anyway -10 :)

I know that Ferrari want to have the bodywork extend all the way to the diffuser to help keep the flow attached, but I do wonder why they seem to be the only ones with that overhang (reminiscent of the acre ducts).

It's impossible to look at the design and say this bit is 'bad' but they do seem to have been struggling at the rear since 2012 when this facet was first incorporated .

That's a guess, the way illustrator sees it. I suppose retweet doesn't mean endorse.

Turbine and compressor back together, like Renault then? Thought the compressor was actually in the middle of the V-shape of the engine in 2014.

No ... as far as i know compressor and turbine already were a single piece on the F14T
They are just going to run a bigger unit this year

The intercooler was inside the V of the engine (solution that is believed to be still adopted in 2015)

They also used more fuel than permitted by the fuel flow regulations..

None of that would surprise me if it is true. It's what the best teams last year did.
