There is one on the other side, it's symmetrical.JDC123 wrote:Yeah i noticed that on the first day. To me it looks like a horizontal flow conditioner with a vortex generator on top, which seems strange as i thought you would have one or the other.Ferraripilot wrote:This component with the turning vane atop is a new item compared to W05 and I'm not sure if this has more of a nozzle effect for airflow beyond this component or if it's more of a flow conditioner aiding laminar airflow attachement, or both? Can anyone explain?

Doesn't Ferrari also have something similar?GPR-A wrote:Tiny little guide veins under the central part of diffuser.

Sidepods are not larger, in fact they are slightly lower. The engine cover is larger. Don't get the two confused.Spoutnik wrote:Mercedes use W05 components on the W06 for the Tests ?
I think Mercedes want clearly more power from the V6 : Log exhaust give up plus the sidepots seems largers..

Hi MattchuMattchu wrote:I notice this year Mercedes have modified the body at the back along the mid tail fin (not sure of its `official name`). Last year it went down to a sh arp point but this year they look to have made it split out into 2 just infront of the monkey seat.
Why would they do this? Would it help the airflow to/over the monkey seat be of a more uniform nature, it looks to me like it would push the air more into the sides of the seat!
I know it`s a very minor detail but why would they not just continue the fin down.

I`m not sure if its just the pictures (not this one) i`m looking at but the rear wing also looks slightly further forward!
