Both W06 and FW37 have gotten single pillar mount for the rear wing in the updates for Barcelona tests.RP F1 wrote: VJM08 has 1 and W06 has 2. May be a small advantage to FW37 on straights.
Nice analysis, just one thing that tomazy mentioned, Williams and Mercedes have moved to the single pillar rear wing support solution.RP F1 wrote:Hey OB
thanks man for the pics!
I was checking out the visible differences in FW37/W06 and VJM08 apart from the differences in front and rear wings, here are some:
1) Side views of all 3 clearly indicate the VJM08 is fatter (around NEC ad) whereas others have reduced body work and are maintaining regulations with fins allowing more air for rear wings

2) VJM08 features ear like cooling ducts which we saw on W05.

whereas Mercedes themselves have got a new design for W06 in place which I personally like :

requires less body and does the same job, Also the support for hoop is very small as compared to vjm08's 2 bigger supports.
FW37 on the other hand does not have any, not sure how they cool the rear. Also they have a big gap under the hoop itself for cooling

In Germany 2014 Force India tried a tighter body work without the extra cooling ducts on hoop and gear box coolers on sidepods, thought they will try to bring it back for 2015 not sure what happened with that design?
3) FW37 rear wing has no central support like 2014:

VJM08 has 1 and W06 has 2. May be a small advantage to FW37 on straights.
4) VJM08 has some new development at the rear exhaust flow

This seems to be different from FW37 and W06

FW37's looks like a smaller version/prototype of the rear wings itself, wonder if they get benefits of that design ?

Not sure which one is better
What do you guys think where can VJM08 be improved by comparisons...let's see if they change anything and probably bring the 2014 slim body work used in testing in Germany back?

This is not a new development, in fact this monkey seat that we have seen in Barcelona is an old feature of the VJM06/07 (before it got replaced by the newer model mid-season), keep in mind that they didn't run a monkey seat in Barcelona test 1 with the VJM07. Personally I expect a a complete different monkey seat for in Melbourne for the VJM08 or the latest version that they used on the VJM07:RP F1 wrote:Hey OB

And about the engine cover, they have indeed tried to slim it down but I think that they need a complete redesign of the rear packaging to achieve that with proper cooling results. If they have enough money to developed it in cologne we might see a B-spec version of the car mid-season.Godius wrote:New monkey seat by the look of it.Morteza wrote:Belgium 2014 - Thursday (21.08.2014)

That is correct. The Article states it is the former Second chief Aerodynamicist from Red Bull and hist First name is Guru.SectorOne wrote:I read that as they have hired Red Bull's second chief aerodynamicist and not some bloke from red bull just helping out.
Maybe someone from germany can let us know exactly what it says.
