Weird thing to reduce drag at Hungaroring...Silent Storm wrote:https://twitter.com/albrodpul/status/624316254560501761
Ferrari has rounded the edge of the flathead of the rear wing to reduce drag by releasing pressure.
Similar to what Mercedes did with smaller monkey seat, Ferrari did it with the rear wing. As I said in W06 thread front grip is vital in Hungaroring even at the expense of slightly less rear grip.Sevach wrote:Weird thing to reduce drag at Hungaroring...Silent Storm wrote:https://twitter.com/albrodpul/status/624316254560501761

Yup that seems to be true... they didn't use the FW from Silverstone...F1NAC wrote:If I am not mistaken, both cars had older version of RW flap
It definitely was raced, just look at the picture of Sebastian's car.f300v10 wrote:The downward curve at the flap/endplate boundry is new for Ferrari (Merc has used it earlier this year at Canada), and was only tested in Hungary, not raced. I suspect Ferrari were testing it for an upcoming race, but perhaps it just didn't perform as well as the standard straight edged flap. I assume the goal of the change is to improve the L/D of the wing with some sacrifice in total downforce.
