What they did is basically gave more time to the cars that don't need it (as they sit in the pits) and took the time away from the cars that would otherwise be on track.
So what we are left with is drivers leaving the pits long before the session is over and fans getting encouraged to head back home.
Uh, and the leading driver needs to FINISH his flying lap BEFORE the checkered flag. WHAT?
This is super confusing, but even if in fact only the 2nd best driver gets eliminated on the checkered flag, what's the fricking point for the fastest driver in completing his flying lap when there is literally no one else left taking part in the session?
