Pffft.
No-one has any sense anymore. This will just be more rubble on the racetrack.
Make a decent "wing-car" formula, where the body covers the wheels. And do it properly, make it as strong as the monocoque, so yo wouldn't get large broken pieces on mild contact. And it would be safer too.
Not this horrid openwheel-but-not-really nonsense.

Well, the championship is over, and was decided by a fastest lap after the 2 contenders got taken out in the first corner. An absolutely mad race

No it wouldn't. Things break off easily because they take a large part of the energy in a impact. If it wouldn't the driver would take all the Gs which in most cases would mean serious injuries.

Di Grassi is a lowly person. Torpedoing Buemi on purpose. Than even trying to block his fastest lap attempts...
I hope he and the team gets a one year suspension.

You're very wrong. If things break off easily they don't absorb energy. eg: front wings.
If things are strong and don't just break off they can absorb a lot of energy. eg: nose cones
Noses for one crumble into dust absorbing a lot of energy during impact. (see f1 crash test videos if you want) With lower forces they're mostly unharmed.

The bodies of le mans, wtcc cars and aerodynamic elements on f1 cars are just not desinged to be strong. They basically can only handle the forse of the air... They're just this felxible crap that break easily. This sucks because of the litter and extra accidents they cause, besides the ruined races.

In collision these flimsy things absorb a lot of energy.

Reiterating it won't make it less wrong. :) But seriously how much energy does a wing absorb when it breaks of from even a slight touch.

Quite a lot actually. It's the whole reason as to why bodywork is so "weak". In an accident, most of the energy gets absorbed through the destruction of this bodywork.

Because of this, the parts are fairly weakthis snd thus get knocked off fairly easily in a slight collision.

Wings does not absorb any energy. Well they obviously do, but the energy they absorb is negligible in an accident.

Wings are wings, not bumpers, they´re not designed to absorb any energy from any impact, the only impact they´re designed to cope with is the impact of air on its elements, or tarmac on it´s tips when drivers take a curb too aggresively

If you want composite parts to absorb energy they need to fail in a controlled, progressive manner along its entire length like a nose structure.

If its too flimsy or just snaps off at a single point (like a wing element) it wont absorb any energy.
If its as strong as the monocoque it won't deform and it won't absorb any energy.

It needs a controlled, prolonged failure in every area of the part. Very hard to do with a brittle material and this is why crash structures are so hard to make.

I never would've expected DI Grassi's behavior, especially after he refused team orders designed to help him.

You don't even have to start it. It's right on the video still. :)
