Red Bull RB13 Speculation Thread

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

I'm guessing its an RB8 or RB9 in these promotional videos, given the stepped nose. Can anyone tell? That the DRS actuator is missing might further confirm this frankenstein's role as a demonstration car.

Yeah the nose is far too high to be from this year or even the last 2 years.

Seeing what Renault have produced, I bet RB had a field day with these new regs.

I've noticed rumors before that RB went extra-long for the RB13. The rumor came up again today in another thread, so I thought I'd bring it up here. Is this a reference to the rear-wheel centerline to cockpit distance? Or something stranger, such as longer floor to front wheel span, as suggesty by:

I wonder if there are still loopholes this big to exploit. Here's hoping they went full Bowlby for 2017.

Cool looking, but so many illegal ideas as to render it completely pointless.

I know... But it would be a decent looking car.

First pic of the new car. See the rear wing.
The airbox is more eliptical than RB12, also the gap between sidepod and vertical winglet is larger compare to RB12 ( i think it just a camera angle? i ;m not sure)

That's the 2017 tire testing mule, the RB13 will look very different imo.

The bull is soon to be released into this china-shop field. 8)

I notice the regs don't specifically recommend engine nor transmission placement...

Intake & exhaust plumbing might get a little circuitous...

More likely though is the rumors surrounding a longer monocoque with big-league barge-boards.

What time is the launch?
Favourite driver: Lando Norris
Favourite team: McLaren

Turned down the chance to meet Vettel at Silverstone in 2007. He was a test driver at the time and I didn't think it was worth queuing!! 🤦🏻‍♂️

Very last minute approach from RBR:
# car weren't finished last Thursday, even some parts had to be made
# earlier today a teamtruck brought the finished RB13 to Heathrow airport
# the "very special air freight", the RB13, was always guarded by team personnel, to make sure that nobody can make pictures
# the car arrived in the evening at the Barcelona Circuit

Well of course - why would they finish the car last Thursday? They could spend an extra week developing it by not having it ready by then.

Moving the cockpit rearward should open up an arrowhead shaped volume between the front wheels and the front edge of the floor (when viewed from above).

Within this area I believe they could install one or more of the following:

-enlarged aerodynamic devices
-heat exchangers
-the engine
