Raises some serious questions about Stroll being ready for F1...

Claire and Daddy Stroll should be pragmatic!

If they want to save the career of the Lance in Formula 1 they should move him for one year
as third driver. Have him driving every P1 session from F1 calendar.

Hire for one year - Pascal Wehrlein for instance.

Right now is clear for me. He is not ready for Formula 1 yet.

I'm in the unusual position of defending a driver with two offs in two days during initial shakedown of a new car.

Stroll is too excited/stressed/unfocused/something, but it's not necessarily the same thing as being definitely out of his league in F1. He has a whole season, so we might as well judge him on that timescale.

The covered distance (98 laps) was fine, but the best lap time was just under 1.23 (1.22.8 something). I think he was trying to improve the laptimes and overpushed. Even without the second spin and crash he was over a second down in pace compared to Massa.

Massa will immediately crush him on track. The question for me is, can Stroll remain calm and drive as best as he can currently or he overcommits and ends up in wall like today?

Gary Anderson (Autosport.com) says this: 'It's not completely surprising to see Stroll in the gravel again. Watching him trackside he looks OK, but isn't completely confident in the car and he keeps on fidgeting with it trying to fix the problems that aren't really there. He's correcting when the car will sort itself out, so he needs to relax a little bit and not white knuckle it. You could say he's got too tight a grasp on the steering wheel'. Seems that he's trying too hard to be a star, in what is just a take it easy and rack miles up test. More time will calm him down I'd assume."

I'm one of the people who find all these 'rich daddy' jokes totally uncalled for and outright stupid and disrespectful. However, Stroll doesn't look ready for the big gala yet. I don't think age has anything to do with it. I've seen some old chaps perfectly experienced in F1 not be able to manage the stresses of F1 and yet a Verstappen or a Vettel ridicule their respective age in achieving great heights. I don't believe in writing people off and Stroll could one day be a grand prix winner, but right now in 2017, it all looks way too early. What's worse for him is that he comes in at a time when the car isn't all that easy to drive and the team desperately needs track time.

For years, Williams have put some truly shocking names in their cockpits for commercial viability. Someone needs to explain to them the concept of drivers bringing commercial interest vs FOM prize money. I will go as far as to say that Sauber aside, who shouldn't be anywhere near the points, Williams have the weakest driver pairing.
"Sebastian there's very, you're a member of a very select few.. Stewart, Lauda, Piquet, Senna, Prost, Schumacher, Fangio.. VETTEL!"

Couldnt agree more. They literally kicked themself in the knees. Massa is experienced, but very pasive driver but still steady and delivering results. Stroll is a massive gamble and so far looking like he is not jet ready for the job. Maybe Di Resta would be a better driver for them, atleast for a year with Stroll driving in practices getting the mileage.
If i would get the money to start my own F1 team, i would revive Arrows

WILLIAMS RACING‏ @WilliamsRacing

We won't be running again today. The #FW40 is back in the garage and we are assessing damage after the car went off track. #F1Testing #F1

Worrying thing is that Lance got a lot of practice last year reportedly with private sessions on an older Williams car. So it's not like he never driven F1 car before. Still I think we can cut him some slack as the car changed dramatically.
Maybe the car itself is unbalanced so far.
