New front wheels... I like them

Perhaps this relates to their low-drag or efficiency ethos. Four big flat faced spokes perhaps churn through the air more easily. Wonder if they'll get it down to three spokes, or two, or... The trend inversely proportional to the number of elements in Merc's T-wing through this season.

Is that just a black colored band inside the wheel or something more?

I think those are temporary rims used for transportation. The mule they had made to practice pit-stops had these rims too.

Those front wheel spokes do look a little banged up now that you mention it. Part of me was recalling the Sauber wheels from a few years back, thinking they could be real items.

There's been little to no chatter on Red Bull having to revert to a more conventional suspension set up at Oz.

According to several sources, they've been asked to remove it on the premise it serves more than the initial function.
I've not seen practice, so i cannot make much comment on how this affects the rake of the car. If the suspension is not being compressed(at speed) as it was origanlly intended, will rake be scaled back?

its not unusual for teams to modify (ie cut/sand/file) away a bit if needed during the weekend. Do we actually know the dimensions of this years wet tyre? I havent seen anything. Maybe its not as big a difference as previous years?

12.4.2 Complete wheel diameter must not exceed 670mm when fitted with dry-weather tyres or 680mm when fitted with wet weather tyres.
