Renault Sport Racing and McLaren Racing are pleased to announce they have agreed an engine supply partnership for the 2018, 2019 and 2020 seasons. The deal will see Renault Sport Racing supply McLaren with Formula 1 power units, while also establishing a close working relationship with McLaren’s engineers and technicians.

As I thought, Alonso and McLaren were just trying to pressurise Honda into fixing the problems ASAP with their media statements. They have shown their hands no and they have no where else to go but to stick with Honda.
When you think about it, Sauber would love for McLaren to leave for Merc and they become Honda's works team. What a jolt for them financially and would make the midfield much more competitive.
In hindsight you wonder if an evolution of final spec 2016 would have been better to begin with. At end of season it was best of the mid table. A decent development of that would have at least kept them in that position for Melbourne.
I also wonder how it would be a developed 2016 engine without token restrictions. May be they can apply new version of Turbo and it would be a bit more powerful. By this way they could run at tests with less issue or without any issues. And in the other side they could work on new engine to the europe or later.
İn fact this makes nonesense. What happened is happened. I hope both engine and chasis side make step forward as soon as possible and we mclaren Honda fans be pleased.

Either way is a win for Sauber.

For example on the famous T-Wing so revolutionary that McLaren Honda input in this race. Nothing. Water. "I think we have 30 new pieces and the only one that everyone sees is the T-Wing that is the one that does the least, we can remove it or put it and nothing will be noticed, what is hidden is what really matters but not We have been able to prove it today, tomorrow we can not for reliability to keep everything for qualification and race and that's what there is, "said the Spaniard.
Some hope of run more in the last FP3. Nothing. "We can not run, let us give three or four laps in either rain or dry for McLaren Honda are not going to change too much," he said.
And about what he expects in the race, again he relies on his adaptability despite the elements. "Fortunately I know the circuit, the car, the tires, I know everything and if we go directly to the Qualy it is probably the best option for me because the others need to adapt and I do not. Laps today and I already have it on the hard drive, "explained the Spanish rider. "The problems do not allow us to really run in the free practice, so tomorrow we will see the others running. We will try to make a good classification and a good race," so crude and hard Spanish.
If things are even, is there hope? "It's like today, you get out in the first laps you're fourth, in the second seventh, in the third you're the eleven and then you're going back, just like in a race, if we leave we'll be in a better position and as the laps go by and on We are saying it on Thursday, we say it today, tomorrow the interview will be the same, in Bahrain it will be the same, but here I have to be, it is mandatory to be and here I am, "he closed. Noisy and mostly likely compromised gear changes, 9kph down on a very long straight. Yet only 1.4 sec off the pace. Alonso is brilliant but the car is improving too.
