Red Bull RB13 TAG Heuer

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Either they're waiting to test more new parts during free practice tomorrow or most of the new parts are 'under the skin' of the car. The frontwing looks basically the same as it did in Russia to me, and I thought the reports were they'd at least be bringing a new one to Barcelona.

The design team has gotten complacent? What is this lazy mess? Here we are waiting for a freaking Gundam zero and this is what they release?

Red Bull have been suffering from a lack of rear downforce. Why would they fix something that isn't broken so to speak. The barge board is new and maybe there is some stuff under the skin that can't be seen that is new. Maybe there is a trick new suspension that is legal vs the one that was banned.

Seriously what have People been expecting? A Spaceship? They had to fix their Correlation issues. It doesn't need a new Car to achieve that.

Not only that but until the 2017 MGU-H is ready it may not even be possible to use the b spec car. I bet nobody has thought of this.

Danny Ric has commented that the Chassis is the same but there have been significant aero changes.

"Major" update... OK, we didn't see the rear yet, so maybe the major stuff is hidden there.
The pictures so far show that everything behind the front wing has been changed (ignoring suspension), and quite heavily, all the way back to the radiator intakes (including barge-boards and everything under the nose area).

I havent seen any good pic's of the rear sections to see anything of note - that said, I did see some different shapes around the cooling exits.

Can you show some pics to confirm your words? Imho, beside the bargeboard area pretty much nothing has changed at the front. Same frontwing, same nose, same turning vanes under the nose...

Look at what the barge boards connect to, all very different compared to Russia. The pics are in this topic.

Btw I said everything "behind" the front wing excepting the suspension.

What do they exactly hope to achieve with the new bargeboard, more stable airflow towards the sidepods right?

Oh, still looking for a Russia pic, but are they trying to cool the breaks more with these added metal parts in the rims?

I think those have more to do with heat management or the tyre.
