A Coswort deal is making same mistake twice if it is mistake working with Honda and need to change to Honda.marmer wrote: ↑08 Jun 2017, 13:44zak brown is on the board of Cosworth. perhaps they have been working on something lots of talent there and all they do is make engines for a buyer to a spec asked for i am sure they could manage something like a Renault power levels especially if they have most of the design ideas. would be too late for 2018 you would think however.
unless they have got a working version that just needs money and a green light to develop

Well at least they sold twice as many cars as in 2015.Thunders wrote: ↑08 Jun 2017, 13:58And if 2018 isn't the Year surely in 2019 they'll come good right? It's time to deliver, not to promise. I would like for McLaren and Honda to become competitive together but as Zak said, the Shareholders are feeling the Heat and if they are losing Money even with all the $$$ Honda is pumping in and no sign of Light at the End of the Tunnel... well they will make the Cut.
İt is that simple but they intentionally do not do that.marmer wrote: ↑08 Jun 2017, 17:30Well even so the engines in the road cars are turbo hybrids with just 2 extra cylinders and larger volume made by a private company just for them. How hard could it be for them to lose 2 cylinders and smaller volume. By the time it's been made into a race spec engine most of the lost power would be made up by tighter tolerance and getting rid of road relevant bits

No they do not build their own car engines. Their only road-car engine is based on an old Nissan engine and is built by Ricardo
How hard could it be? Millions of dollars in R&D, millions of dollars in equipment and infrastructure. Thousands of man-hours. Hundreds of new hires with years of experience in very specific skillsmarmer wrote: ↑08 Jun 2017, 17:30Well even so the engines in the road cars are turbo hybrids with just 2 extra cylinders and larger volume made by a private company just for them.
