He's flat at turn one, doesn't hit the brakes for Copse,
It was a super smooth lap, though he doesn't necessarily hit all the apexes.
He's not flat in turn 1.Hammerfist wrote: ↑15 Jul 2017, 16:56He's flat at turn one, doesn't hit the brakes for Copse,

There's a slight lift in T1 and he came down to 7th for Copse.Hammerfist wrote: ↑15 Jul 2017, 16:56He's flat at turn one, doesn't hit the brakes for Copse,

True, slight lift. It must have been damp out there because I saw onboards of other cars that were flat in turn 1 this weekend.Sevach wrote: ↑15 Jul 2017, 16:59There's a slight lift in T1 and he came down to 7th for Copse.Hammerfist wrote: ↑15 Jul 2017, 16:56He's flat at turn one, doesn't hit the brakes for Copse,

Err... I don't remember having given one in Hungary qualifying last year, under DOUBLE WAVED YELLOW!!! Lifting from throttle for EXACTLY "0.1" second was deemed enough. What's the big deal now?
Copse, yeah, not even close.Juzh wrote: ↑15 Jul 2017, 17:05As predictedSevach wrote: ↑15 Jul 2017, 16:59There's a slight lift in T1 and he came down to 7th for Copse.Hammerfist wrote: ↑15 Jul 2017, 16:56

Most likely the small amount of rain washing away some of the rubber has to do with it. Might have been different, should there been a bone dry qualifying. A driver not having full confidence on the circuit and having doubts about dampness on the racing line, would affect the amount of speed carried I guess.
I don't think so. Mid 26 is seriously quick laptime and it still wasn't even close.GPR-A wrote: ↑15 Jul 2017, 17:10Most likely the small amount of rain washing away some of the rubber has to do with it. I dont think so. They arrive there in 8th gear if I understood Hamilton correctly. No way to take all that speed and power around flatGPR-A wrote: ↑15 Jul 2017, 17:10Most likely the small amount of rain washing away some of the rubber has to do with it. He said after the session that they can go through Copse flat but they scrub too much speed so it's quicker to lift and then power through.Juzh wrote: ↑15 Jul 2017, 17:05As predictedSevach wrote: ↑15 Jul 2017, 16:59There's a slight lift in T1 and he came down to 7th for Copse.Hammerfist wrote: ↑15 Jul 2017, 16:56

He said: "You can take Copse flat in eighth but it is not necessarily quicker - you scrub a lot of speed off and the rpm drops off too much. I don't personally take it flat.
"And then Maggotts and Becketts; that section is on fire - Turn 10 is always flat, 11 has been flat for years, 12, from 2007 to now, you were letting off later and later and now you are on the gas into 12. Turn 13 (the final right-hander) is a fantastic corner because it is very bumpy, a lot of compression on the tyres and it is all about the exit.
Yeah, I don't buy that at all. I think what he actually meant to say is that staying in 8th trough copse is not optimal because you have to drop too much speed to not run off the track, and hence the rpm is too low. He's not even flat in turn 11 when he says it's flat for years lol.Just_a_fan wrote: ↑15 Jul 2017, 17:47He said after the session that they can go through Copse flat but they scrub top much speed so it's quicker to lift and then power through. He said: "You can take Copse flat in eighth but it is not necessarily quicker - you scrub a lot of speed off and the rpm drops off too much.
