So, when do we see the Massa/Vettel swap?

I have not seen Vettel in top level equipment throw away a 10 point WCC lead in two races due to stupid driver errors either, but you have seen Hamilton do it.

Great weekend until there was actual race pressure applied. The rabbit tripped while trying to stay ahead of the greyhounds, and I think that it all came down to Kimi leapfrogging him out of the pits.

Ross Brawn has stated that MS just "can't stand the thought of anyone else winning" and while that drove him to greatness, it ALSO drove him to some pretty stupid mistakes throught his career. I sincerely hope that Michael (or the Ferrari team) hasn't instilled that attitude in Felipe.

Unfortunately the silly mistakes that he has made rather points my attitude towards Massa at a very LOW angle. IE: I don't look up at him.

Vettel on the other hand did well, but the STR wasn't very strong this weekend. I put most of that down to the fact that the car wan designed inherently to be controlled by the traction control. Even MS while testing the F2007-M without TC, he made the comment that it was very obvious that the car was not designed to run without TC. I believe that the new STR03 will be more competitive, and if it is based off of the RB4, it is looking like a VERY good prospect.

Anyways, good race overall, but nothing spectacular. Seems that on a real racetrack the cars behave much better. Maybe there is something to running all street courses...

I don't know but I will admit that he is having a very bad start. He was great last year but maybe he just needs some time this year to get used to the TC. He did pole though.

And you KNOW who Ferrari would bring in to mentor young Vettel, and it would go smoothly since they both speak german as their native tongue.

I dunno though, Michael is a VERY big supporter of Massa, but in the end, business is business, and Michael knows the Scuderia better than any.

So Kimi misjudging a corner or overtake and going off the track "is racing," but Massa misjudging a bit of throttle is "omg can anyone be that dumb" ?.

There is absolutely zero indication that someone like Vettel, when at the front of the race or the serious potential to be, in an excellent car, wouldn't do the same thing. Massa has way more experience, and has proven he is fast. That is what Ferrari is interested in. He's also completely up to speed on the team, the car, the engineers, the system. Has he slipped up twice in a race so far? Yes. To be honest I'm fairly surprised he did this time at Sepang. Being that far ahead of the field, IMO best thing to do is to for both drivers is to drive just a touch under the limit. Stay far ahead, but don't try to put down qualifying laps.

That said, with this twice now you can damn well bet Felipe will reel it in just a touch and realize you can't always go as fast as you want to. He will realize this, he'll work in simulators, his engineers will coach him, and I'm sure Schumi will give him some encouragement as well. Wouldn't be a bad idea to turn up the power-side lock on the differential too! I don't expect to see it again.

FWIW, I see much more potential in Kubica than Vettel. Kubica is fast, and fairly consistent. I could see him doing good things for BMW this year. In a faster car (McLaren or Ferrari) I could see him being very competitive.

I agree with most of this post. Vettel isnt necesarily better than massa. I also think Kubica would be a far better bet to replace the Brasilian. Ferrari has always employed a strategy to get experienced drivers over unproven material.

Having said that I do believe Massa overstepped like a rookie 2 races in a row in a championship wich u need every point possible. Kimi was simply faster than him and in an effort to keep up, he simply lost it like a rookie. As a fan of Ferrari i find that almost unacceptable. With Jean Todt out perhaps Montezemlo must focus on bringing in someone else. Preferably Alonso or Kubica or my outside bet MARKUS WEBBER, 2008 WDC!!! This being my choice IF massa screws up in the next 2 races again.
