Vettel in a league of his own today!!
The cheapest sort of pride is national pride, every miserable fool who has nothing at all of which he can be proud adopts, as a last resource, pride in the nation to which he belongs; thus reimbursing himself for his own inferiority.

Ferrari put some new engine parts. Not a complete set.

For those who wanted a wet race, 85% wet race tomorrow.
Based by FIA publications. Kimi has new MGU-H (4) and Seb new CE (4)

So no new engine yets
CE as we say Combustion Engine?
Control Electronics, new engine will probably come in the next race along with the turbo penalty on a track you can overtake with chance of rain.

Best case scenario for Vettel. They couldn't have asked for more. I was expecting him behind RedBulls :)

Wow, Dat Lap!

Pit stop will determine the race, safety car will be the joker.

Anyone in the top 8 can win, and if it rains, literally anyone can win with attrition.

Tomorrow's race is set to be an instant classic. I hope it's thrilling until the last lap!

Exciting qualifying session today, tomorrow with a wet race, I think the SC will be very prominent on screen, and the podium is bound to surprise.

Ricciardo really a very bad loser - the facade of being smiley is not genuine, he can't really accept being beaten (and once again outqualified by Max - becoming the norm).

[edit: who starts boasting about "dominating" a weekend on a Friday?]

Special couple of laps by Seb- both of them better than anyone else could manage - but let's see in the race, still a ways to go.

- Shocking to some or as perfectly predicted :D : Ferrari the quickest and RB close .

- Mercedes' diligent work on Monaco set up resulted in another similar result on the third similar track.

- The only difference is that Bottas is not getting in the way which is his role. That and talking about being a contender. Typical in F1 contradiction between manufactured reality and media BS.

That Ferrrai always gets pole on tracks that are impossible to overtake (Monaco, Sochi, Hungary, Singapore). It was a mega lap from Seb though hitting the wall with his rear tyre, that gearbox must be made of granite. If it rains which likely we could have a classic race.

Ferrari were sandbagging massively or just setup the race more towards the race?
IMHO is the latter coz Red Bull and Merc guys said it was a massive recovery from yesterday and maybe that was the case bearing in mind here like in Monaco track position is king ...
And maybe Merc went here knowing they will not get the pole so just concentrate merely on race setup hence Lewis` good laps in FP2 on soft tyres ...
So tomorrow, as Lewis said, they will go for the big game and just waiting the SC appearance, then switch on the softs till the end of the race ...
In this case scenario in order to play this strategy in their hands that SC phase shouldn`t be to soon or too late ...

The safety car is such a disaster the last couple of years (esp this year). No reason not to implement VSC for most scenarios if it's wet tomorrow.

Will this be another race where Max outqualifies Ric, but some reliability issue will strike and Ric will go on podium, or even win? Until now, Ric was never beaten by his team mate on this circuit. So that is broken. It's 10-4 in qualifying.

Start is going to be fun. :) If it really rains, Maylander would be the the one to watch out for. :D

In some ways, RB winning won't be too worrying for Ferrari or Mercedes. From Vettel and Hamilton's perspective, they are more interested in where each other finishes. Both will see RB's performance here as an outlier and unlikely to be a harbinger of a change of fortunes.
It can go both ways. If RedBull splits them, it could be very costly. Imagine Vettel winning with the best Mercedes 4th. That would be 13 points.
Correction: 5th. That's massive 15 points. Though with Max and Dan right there splitting Ferrari, this could be a close one. RedBull should be very smart tomorrow. Assuming they get cleanly through the first few corners and both RedBull stay close, they could play smart by pitting one early and one late and see how Ferrari/Vettel reacts.

The start will be key. Mercedes a bit off, as expected. To be fair though; Hamilton looked very fast on the soft tire. The big question though is, if they'll get to use that tire?
Not for nothing, Rosberg's Championship is the only thing that lends credibility to Hamilton's recent success. Otherwise, he'd just be the guy who's had the best car. — bhall II

Ey? That's a bit harsh. Dan was mighty in FP1 and FP2 and close enough in FP3. What's wrong with genuine disappointment of one of the drivers who possibly thought to have it within grasp to get pole and win on perhaps the best track for RedBull this year?

The Dan vs Max mentioning isn't really necessary IMO.

I just think it's getting to him that Max is genuinely the quicker driver and that it's consistently showing to be the case.

But my real gripe is that he always acts this way - he doesn't say well done to the guy on pole, like Seb and Lewis (both of whom have supreme confidence in their own ability) do to each other, always his reaction is that it should have been him. It's not good sportsmanship and he's not showing himself to be a good sportsman. IMHO
