No SECU for 2009?

Post

From the F1T article about FIF1 using Ferrari Engine and KERS for 2009...
Force India is set to continue to use a customer engine built by Ferrari next season, but will also run the KERS system (Kinetic Energy Recovery System) designed by the Maranello-based outfit. This was confirmed by Vijay Mallya in the German magazine 'Auto Motor und Sport'.

"We will run a Ferrari engine and the electronics of Magneti Marelli," Mallya said.
How are they to use the MM electronics if the MES ECU is a standard part?

Does the KERS system have its own ECU? I have also seen some diagrams as to how the "generator" works by CVT off of the gearbox. It looks like it will also be possible to use it in a fashion that can simulate traction control as well as simulating engine braking. Especially if it is operated by a stand alone ECU!

Thoughts?

No one has any insight on this? Was Mallya misspeaking? Or are there Magneti Marelli parts that still plug into the SECU that he may be talking about?

RUMOUR-HUMOUR ALERT - There's a hint, just the vaguest suggestion that Microsoft will quit "F1" :D   :D

I believe that only the ECU is part of the SECU agreement/package. This means that the igniter, KERS system and other electronics triggered by the SECU can be from other manufacturers (likely to be the companies they used to get their old ECU's from.

KERS will be controlled by the SECU plus everything already (i.e engine gearbox etc). However the team still run non MES electronics mainly for Data acquisition, thus Force India will be using Marelli’s Telemetry system. As the telemetry doesn’t “control” anything only monitor it, this is all legal under the current rules
