Well, no. Because Pirelli won't be bringing HS for the race weekend.

Raikkonen set the fastest testing time last year on super-soft (most people set times on U-S), and Lewis' pole on one compound harder was half a second slower than that.

If we expect tyres to be super-soft for the race this year, then maybe pole will be high 17, low 18?

No, and the temperatures at the event will be higher and mean the tyres start to go off near the end of a qualifying lap - however, I think the point he's making is that on HS at the moment, if the cars went flat out they could hit a 1.15 - I don't think that's unreasonable, although low 16's more likely.

The time delta based on last year's race pace and qualifying is being applied to Bottas's recent stint on medium tires. Assuming they run the same spread of compounds now, then yes, you could assume a 4.5s drop.

I'm not sure which is scarier.. Bottas' race sim or Vettel's qually time.. Bit of both?

Do we have race sim times from 2017 pre season tests? Just to compare with current Bottas sim and 2017 race laps.
And they call it a stall. A STALL!

The tires are softer and the track is much improved.
Softer compound tires, more powerful PU's, hotter temperatures compared to earlier, rubbered in track and resurfaced circuit. It's like pressing a reset button, data of the past seem irrelevant nowadays...

Hotter temperatures hurt race pace more than qualy pace.

Haas = oil in the fuel guinea pig testing for Ferrari :o . That's why Binotto went there. Do order specultaions include this aspect? Once Merc Ferrari put oil and so on...

Now it's 0,7 s between HS and US, the rest the same 0,2 (Amus).

Will be fascinating if Vettel does a race sim this afternoon - his last stint in the car - much more representative comparison with Bottas.

Is he lifting across the line or is he lifting after the timing beam but before the finish line?
slowing down before the lap is timed
Don't think that is the case

Left is actual timing line, right is race starting line at least 100m forwards

last year he did it...not sure about today though...
Finishing races is important, but racing is more important.

Right, that's THE GOLDEN THREAD of 2017, thanks! :D

So, Ham started first stint at 1:25.xxx. Started last stint at just under 1:23.xxx. This is what, 2-3 seconds slower than what Bottas did now?

I hope Sebastian does a race sim in the afternoon.
I guess he will try it because its his last testing day though Ferrari has done a good milleage so far.
