Do you know Alonso's sector time of 1:16.720 lap?
[/quotyeah, would be interesting to see sector 1&2 times in that one..

On the subject of Ferrari's pace. When was the last time Ferrari brought a good car to the season, after having a good car the year before ?

Cars are developed much more than I expected during winter break. they will more than 2 sec quicker. How much of this due to tries I wonder..

I wonder who has held back the best 'mods' until Oz? What is going to turn up and change things?

That's what I was going to ask.

Knowing if Alonso was on another PB in 1&2 before he cut the chicane would be interesting as he'd already done a couple of 1:17s.

Of course, all the pace will be moot if they keep putting the wheels on the wrong side. #-o

Marca says they were 3 or 4 laps in 1:17's, the last one was the quickest in sectors 1 and 2 so yes about 1:17.5 more or less. What i have seen is that the McLaren has been quite slow in speed traps all the week, Alonso said in the interview after the end that they have put a little bit more on the engine side and that's the reason of the 1:17's and also add that everyone is hidding their true potential, also them.

So seems that they're with Renault and Hass, what we have to see is that famous spec for Melbourne that they've been working in the last 2 months. :)

Yeah. While I'm not expecting miracles from Macca, I think that last stint gives at least a little source for optimism.

Hopefully they generate more interest than just the content of Fernando's radio messages.

I don't know if that was more of a rhetorical question, but if I am not mistaken that was 3 years in a row: 2006, 2007 and 2008. As we all know they narrowly lost both championships in 2006, won both in 2007 (constructors due to McLaren being disqualified though) and won constructors in 2008 with narrowly missing on drivers. After that they had: very bad, decent, bad, decent, good, terrible, good, bad, very good and now we will see

yeah so, hardly anyone remains at the team who has been able to make 2 good cars in a row,

So if they have fallen back to 3rd, its not like its anything out of the norm is all im getting at

You should check out dans post, he actually went through the effort of comparing Vettels medium stint vs Bottas medium stint on equal fuel loads and highlighting the age of the respective tires at that point. No one, really no one, was comparing SS vs M in either case.

EDIT:

Aren't the cars refueled during the tire change? In recent years during testing no team did a race like pitstop and just changed tires. Hence they could (hypothetically) be going with the same fuel load for every stint.

Refuelling isn’t allowed in pitlane, outlaps are consistent with normal outlap times

Ted Kravitz thinks that Ferrari's issues are on PU and fuel consumption side. In his opinion Ferrari might have suffered most from the regulation changes in terms of oil burning. Meaning they have to fight for power and/or less fuel consumption.
Areodynamically he doesn't think that they have messed up because they were already really good last year.

What are your thoughts on this?
