That article must have been written without even looking at the cars

"- Neither Mercedes, Ferrari and Red Bull have changed their cars externally big. The first real upgrades are announced for the GP Spain in Barcelona"

The Ferrari has the biggest change I think I have ever seen mid-season.
Do you mean the changes on Ferrari for this weekend? Because nothing else is written in that text. :)

Ferrari's diffuser was behaving unpredictably and in response the team dialed in a lot of understeer into the setup.

I'm definitely thinking that Melbourne might have had more to do with Ferrari not being at 100% rather than Mercedes super unlockable pace.
That argument works in reverse as well. We could easily say Mercedes has been on the back foot the last three races because they haven't gotten their care dialed in, in all conditions yet.

Only it's 1 example vs 3.

- Mercedes has no engine advantage anymore. If needed, Ferrari can use the more power they have to run with more downforce.
Yeah, 'cause FI and Williams were horrible in Baku Q compared to Sauber and Haas. Yeah...
And they call it a stall. A STALL!

You may well be right but I suggest that Bottas did remarkably well in China in that case, given that he beat a 4xWDC on pure pace there, in an apparently slower car.

Or, potentially, we shouldn't necessarily ascribe gospel status to what teams say in the press.

Surely you meant to say on strategy right?

The undercut isn't a new idea so I doubt Ferrari were unaware of the threat. If Ferrari couldn't pull more than three seconds out of reach and then couldn't make up the gap on their in lap and then couldn't pressure Bottas, at all, despite the long straight and using Kimi as a mobile chicane then, no, I don't think I did.

If you have speed in hand, why stay within 3 seconds? If you have speed in hand, why lose more than two seconds over the most crucial two laps of the race? If you have speed in hand, and DRS, and a huge straight, why not overtake? And that's not counting having a driver of Vettel's quality versus Bottas.

Or, perhaps, Ferrari were quickest in Quali and not the race which would suggest the 'quickest no matter what' idea isn't 100% accurate?

Expecting a very tight contest this weekend. Top 3 within few tenths followed by a bunched up midfield in order of Haas, Renault, Mclaren, ToroRosso, Force india, williams and Sauber.

Definitely expecting a tight one this weekend.

I think it’ll essentially be business as usual - redbull miles ahead on Friday, 2-5tenths off in quali. Very close between Mercedes and Ferrari. I think Mercedes might come out on top this race, but as a Ferrari fan I’m hoping we can edge them.

Very interested to see either way. Visually, Ferrari seem to have more upgrades than Mercedes, but I’m sure that’s misleading...

It’ll be interesting to see pace of Ferrari vs merc vs redbull compared to winter testing when the sky was falling for Ferrari. Was that legit, were they sandbagging or did they have setup issues (Bourne out in Australia).

Every race this season there is some interesting mystery to uncover. Loving it so far. Hopefully the ol’ “spice up the show” safety car doesn’t come out this time...

Well, when you have Max, Kimi (the usual victim), the Toro Rossos and Hasses, how can there be no safety car?
